LG aiming for 10 million G4 sales this year

Samsung Has Filed Trademarks For The Galaxy A6, Galaxy A8 And Galaxy A9

Samsung-Logo-AH16

Now that the Mobile World Congress (MWC) is behind us, and Samsung has put an end to the endless Galaxy S6 rumors by releasing both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, it’s time to focus on other news. Like the one that arrived today, and is Samsung related. The company has recently filed trademarks for the Galaxy A6, Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A9 with the USPTO. These three devices will expand Samsung’s “A” line of smartphones. Speaking of which, let’s talk about that for a second.

Samsung has announced the Galaxy Alpha back in August 2014, that was the company’s first smartphone to combine metal with Samsung’s usual plastic (polycarbonate) materials. Samsung Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 followed the Galaxy Alpha, and it seems like Samsung intends to push that line of devices even further by releasing the aforementioned devices as well. Taking the A3, A5 and A7 into consideration, the upcoming A9 handset will be the most powerful out of the bunch, while the A6 and A8 will be somewhere in between A5 and A9 as far as specs go. Keep in mind that this is Samsung’s mid-range line of smartphones, so don’t expect top-of-the-line specifications or anything of the sort.

It is still unknown when will the company release these handsets though, they might wait for quite some time now and release them as successors to the A3, A5 and A7, or we might see them launched sooner than that. Stay tuned either way, we’ll hear more about this soon quite probably, benchmark leaks will quite probably surface in the coming weeks. Samsung has switched to all-metal build as far as their flagship Galaxy S line goes, it remains to be seen what will happen with the Galaxy Note line, in other words will Samsung decide to manufacture an all-metal Galaxy Note 5 or not.

That being said, let us know what you think of Samsung’s Galaxy A line in the comments. Do you own the Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy A3, A5 or A7 device? Share your thoughts with us in the comments, we’d love to hear from you, as usual.

Another Official Huawei P8 Teaser Appears, The Company Teases Great Battery Life

Huawei P8 teaser_22

We’ve been hearing about Huawei P8 for quite some time now. This handset will be the company’s next flagship, and Huawei themselves confirmed that the device will launch in April in the company’s recent teaser. The company has released yet another teaser image on their official Weibo (Chinese social network) account, let’s see what’s that all about, shall we.

As you can see in a provided image, this teaser clearly shows the number 8, and also has a battery icon teased along with this number. This is probably Huawei’s way to tell us that we can expect quite a substantial battery life of their upcoming smartphone. This doesn’t necessarily have to mean the handset will ship with a large battery unit though, of course, especially considering the fact that Huawei’s P line devices were always kind of thin. This quite probably means that they will optimize battery consumption and by doing that provide significant battery life to consumers, or perhaps include some sort of battery saving features, who knows.

The Huawei P8 is rumored to sport a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Huawei’s Kirin 930 SoC octa-core processor is expected to power on this device. 13-megapixel was also mentioned in recent leaks, along with a dual-LED flash and optical image stabilization (OIS). We still don’t know the exact date of Huawei P8’s launch, but the device will launch next month. Huawei will certainly release at least a couple of more P8 teasers before they actually launch the device, so stay tuned for that.

All in all, you can expect a rather thin device with really solid specifications and premium build. As a side note, Huawei left quite an impression at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) this year when they launched the Huawei Watch, the company’s first smartwatch. Huawei is doing a great as far as the design goes lately, and the expectations for their products are really high at this point. What specifications do you expect the Huawei P8 to sport in the end? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Android Lollipop Update For YU Yureka To Start Rolling Out On March 26

Yu Yureka Android Lollipop teaser

YU is a new Indian company which opened up shop last year. This is Micromax’s subsidiary in every shape and form, though it operates separately from said India-based company. YU has already released their first (and currently only) device, YU Yureka. This handset managed to get under the spotlight real quick considering it is powered by Cyanogen OS, not only that, but it also offers a really decent set of specs and it doesn’t cost all that much at all (Rs. 8,999 in India, which is approximately $144). Anyhow, the company has released a new teaser, let’s see what’s it all about.

YU is teasing the arrival of Android 5.0 Lollipop on their device via this new teaser image which you can see above this article. It’s a mini connect-the-dots puzzle, which (when solved) forms a Lollipop, though you can see that without solving it even. There are 26 dots in this image, which indirectly suggests that the update will land on March 26th. This handset originally launched running Android 4.4 KitKat with Cyanogen OS 11 on top of Google’s operating system, and it seems like Android Lollipop will arrive shortly.

The Yu Yureka comes sporting a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection on top of it, along with 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor (quad-core 1.7GHz ARM Cortex A53 & quad-core 1.0GHz ARM Cortex A53) is powering on this device and comes with an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics rendering. 13-megapixel camera rear-facing with 5P (5 plastic elements) lens and Sony’s Exmor R sensor (f/2.2 aperture) is located at the back of this handset and it can shoot 1080p at 30fps and 720p slow motion video at 60fps. 5-megapixel camera can be found on the front side of this device. We’re talking about a dual-SIM device here, which offers 4G LTE connectivity. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS are also here, and the device ships with a 2500mAh battery. The Yu Yureka measures 154.8 x 78 x 8.8mm and weighs 155 grams.

This handset is available only in India at the moment. We managed to get some hands-on time with the device during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, if you’re interested in checking that out, click here.

Rumor: Xiaomi’s 399 Yuan ($64) Smartphone To Arrive At The End Of This Month

AH Xiaomi Logo 1.3

Xiaomi is well-known for manufacturing affordable handsets. This company’s flagship devices are usually significantly affordable compared to some other similarly-specced flagships on the market. This Chinese smartphone manufacturer is trying to push the price limits it seems, back in December (and a few times after that) we’ve seen some reports that Xiaomi intends to launch a device which will cost around 499 Yuan ($64), but the company didn’t release anything of the sort up until now. Well, now we have some additional information regarding this handset, read on.

A new report coming from China claims that this device will launch at the end of this month, and that it will cost 399 ($64), even less than previously reported. The company still didn’t confirm that they’re working on such a device though, despite a ton of rumors and leaks that have surfaced thus far. A mysterious Leadcore-powered Xiaomi-branded device was certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) a while ago, and this handset actually fits the description. Leadcore SoCs are extremely affordable, so this device might actually be the cheapest Xiaomi-branded device to date. The only question that remains at this point, is if Xiaomi really intends to launch this thing, and if the pricing rumors are accurate.

According to the aforementioned TENAA listing, this device will feature a 4.7-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of in-built storage. Leadcore’s LC1860C quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz will power this handset along with the Mali T628 GPU. Android 4.4.4 KitKat will come pre-installed on this device with Xiaomi’s MIUI OS on top of Google’s operating system, of course. 8-megapixel camera is said to be this device’s main shooter, and a 2-megapixel camera might be located on the front side of this thing.

Take this news with a pinch of salt though, as previously mentioned, Xiaomi did not confirm the existence of this device in any shape or form, so it remains to be seen if it’s real. TENAA listing does give it some credibility though, anyhow, if we stumble upon some additional news regarding all this we’ll let you know, stay tuned.
