In between all the announcements on how well the Samsung Galaxy S6 and its partner launch device, the Galaxy S6 Edge are selling and doing, there is still the little matter of Android 5.0, aka Lollipop. While the list of devices already seeing their updates landing is continually increasing, there is still a number of devices expecting and waiting for their update to land. Well, if you are the proud owner of the LG G2 on T-Mobile it looks like your update to Lollipop via OTA is now beginning.
This will be welcomed news for the LG G2 owners out there, who had been waiting. Both the LG G3 and G2 on T-Mobile have been widely reported to be waiting on their Lollipop update to arrive. Back towards the end of last month, T-Mobile did announce that both devices had entered “carrier testing” status for Lollipop and as such it was presumed it should be not be too long before their updates began to roll out. This was then followed by the news that T-Mobile was beginning to roll out their OTA to the LG G3 in the first week of April. Well, mid-way through April now and the T-Mobile support pages (source link below) are now confirming that the Android 5.0 update (software version D80130b) is beginning for the LG G2.
The support pages detail that this is a staggered and over quite a long roll out period. The page lists that beginning today (April 14th) and continuing through until May 22nd, the OTA will commence to the respective devices. No details are provided in terms of what’s on offer besides the update to Android 5.0, however, it is unlikely to be that different to what was noted for the LG G3 a couple of weeks ago. As well as the OTA, the support page does list that the download will be available for manual pull-down for those who do not want to wait for the update to be pushed over-the-air to their device. As such, if you do own an LG G2 then you might want to either head over to the support page (source link below) or at the very least keep an eye out for your update arriving. The update will bring the LG G2 up to Android 5.0.2 and weighs in at 617MB.
