Sony Xperia Z4 info has been leaking out of quite some time now. We’ve seen quite a few leaked images of this handset, same can be said about its specifications. All kinds of crazy rumors were coming our way and we were waiting for some concrete info from Sony, in other words, we were waiting for the company to schedule the launch event of their upcoming Xperia Z4 flagship. Well, this Japan-based tech giant managed to surprise more or less everyone and announce the device without putting up a huge show in order to do it. The company did hold an announcement for the device, but the event was far smaller than the one last year and Sony didn’t go through extra effort in order to bring everyone over there nor announce it ahead of time. Some rumors have been claiming that the company will announce their new flagship in Japan on April 20th, and it seems those rumors were spot on. Either way, the Xperia Z4 is now official, so let’s check out what it has to offer.
The Sony Xperia Z4 features a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card up to 128GB). Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor is powering on Sony’s new flagships along with an Adreno 430 GPU for graphics which ships with this SoC. The 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS camera (CMOS sensor) is located on the back of this device, while you’ll find a 5.1-megapixel Exmor R snapper (CMOS sensor, 25mm wide-angle lens) up front. 2,930mAh battery is located inside of this handset and Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on the Xperia Z4 with Sony’s custom UI installed on top of Google’s OS which offers quite a few additional software options. The Xperia Z4 measures 146 x 72 x 6.9mm while it weighs 144 grams.
As far as audio goes, Xperia Z4 is able to handle LDAC, the new audio technology which provides high-res quality audio. Sony’s new flagship is also IP6X and IPX5/IPX8 certified for water and dust resistance. The company has added a ton of camera features into this device, and the Xperia Z4 will also ship with a waterproof and yet cap-less USB port. The company has also announced a couple of accessories which will be available for their new flagships, the table stand / charger and a QuickWindow-like case.
There you have it folks, that is the new Xperia Z4. It sports the same display size and resolution as its predecessor, and that’s not the only thing that’s same / similar when it comes to these two devices. The Xperia Z4 also sports 3GB of RAM, same as the Xperia Z3, and the two devices actually look quite similar. That being said, the Xperia Z4 comes in Black, White, Copper and Aqua Green color options. The device will launch in Japan this summer, and Sony did not share any details regarding its availability outside of Japan, though the device will of course be available outside of Asia. We’ll report back when we receive some additional info.
