Xiaomi is the fastest growing smartphone manufacturer in the world. This China-based company sold 61 million smartphones last year, which is three times as much than they did a year before. They intend to sell 100 million smartphones this year, which is quite optimistic, and it will be interesting to see if they can pull that off. Xiaomi has already announced quite a few new smartphones this year, the Redmi 2, Mi Note and Mi Note Pro. The Redmi 2 and Mi Note are already available for purchase in China, and the most powerful handset in their lineup, the Mi Note Pro, is due to launch soon. Speaking of which, this device recently popped up on Geekbench as the Mi Note Plus.
Back in January when Xiaomi introduced this handset, the company named it Mi Note Pro, and everyone thought that’s what they’ll call it. Well, that might not be the case after all. This is not the first time we see the “Plus” listing, the handset carrying this name was already listed on AnTuTu back in January soon after the company launched the Mi Note Pro. It is possible that Xiaomi intends to use the “Plus” naming instead, or the company intends to use both of those names and make them market dependent. These two devices seem identical though.
The listing itself reveals all the specs that we’ve seen already, along with some benchmark results. The listed Mi Note Plus handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor and comes with 4GB of RAM. Android 5.0.2 will come pre-installed on this device with Xiaomi’s proprietary MIUI skin on top of it. This handset scored 1,235 in the single-core test and 4,039 in the multi-core test on Geekbench, which are similar results to the HTC One (M9) which is powered by that very same SoC.
That being said, the company’s co-founder and CEO said yesterday that Xiaomi plans to announce a special edition of the Mi Note today.
