Nexus 9 Gets The CyanogenMod Lollipop Treatment With CM12 Nightly Now Ready To Download And Install

AH Nexus 9 2 Chris-37

If you have not been following the tech news this week, then it is Android 5.0 (Lollipop) week. That may sound a bit deja vu for a lot of people as Lollipop was announced just over ninety days ago and so that was technically Lollipop week. However, as ninety days was the time frame given by most major manufacturers in bringing lollipop to their respective devices, we find ourselves now, ninety days later, in among all the Lollipop roll-outs.

That said, if you bought either the Google Nexus 6 by Motorola or the Google Nexus 9 by HTC then Lollipop will seem like old hat to you. These devices were the Lollipop launch devices and as such came with the highly awaited Android 5.0 running. So no biggie for you guys that three months later other OEMs are starting to roll out Lollipop too. In fact, you Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 owners might even be beginning to get bored of stock Lollipop. It has been three months and you have been playing with it all that time and now are ready to move on. Well, if you have the Nexus 6 then this was not a problem as you could always flash CyanogenMod onto your device. CyanogenMod’s version of Lollipop (À la CM12) has been around pretty much since they announced the beginning of the CM12 nightlies at the start of 2015.

That said, if you are running the Nexus 9 then you have not as yet, been afforded the same CM opportunity. Up until now CM has not been available as a CM12 download. That has now changed though as it seems CM12 for the Nexus 9 is now live and ready to download. If you are a Nexus 9 owner and fancy giving CM Lollipop a try then you can. Of course, you (like everyone else running CM12) need to be aware that this is a nightly ROM and as such it is wise to expect some bugs or performance issues. Not to mention, you will be receiving (almost) nightly updates to your system for the immediate future. That said, if you want to go ahead then click here to head over to your download link for the Nexus 9, codename flounder. If you do give it a try then make sure to let us know what you think and if there are any major issues.
