HTC is trying to increase their profit any way they can, and they decided to restructure to some extent last year. Releasing more mid-range handsets and sell them in as many markets as possible is a part of their plans (emerging markets included, of course), it remains to be seen will that benefit the company. Either way, after getting certified by TENAA in China, the Desire 626 has launched in Taiwan earlier this month, and the handset is now available in China as well.
The HTC Desire 626 is now available in China on both China Mobile and China Unicom, and HTC will most certainly push this device out to more markets. The U.S. was also mentioned in the latest rumors, but we don’t have any official information regarding that at the moment, we’ll let you know if some additional information comes our way. The Desire 626 is available for 1,499 Yuan, which is around $272, and the device is available in four color options at the moment: Elegant White, Blue Magic, Light Purple and Orange. Regarding its specifications, the Desire 626 features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which you can expand via microSD card. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 SoC, a 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz which comes with an Adreno 306 GPU for graphics processing. 2,000mAh battery ships with this device and the device offers 4G LTE connectivity as well. On the back of this device, you’ll find a 13-megapixel camera (f/2.2 aperture, BSI sensor), and an LED flash. 5-megapixel snapper is available up front and ready to take a selfie if needed. Android 4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed on this device with HTC’s Sense 6 UI on top of Google’s operating system. This handset measures 146.9 x 70.9 x 8.19mm and weighs 140 grams.
