We haven’t heard much from ZTE lately, especially not regarding the next big step for the company. We’ve seen some rumors of the alleged Nubia Z9 handset a couple of weeks ago, according to which that device will have no bezel on its left and right side. Those are only rumors of course, and we haven’t seen much of them, but ZTE is expected to release their flagship within the next couple of months. Their current flagship device, the Nubia Z7, has been released in June, so I guess we can expect its successor in mid-2015 as well, unless ZTE decides to release that handset earlier than that.
Speaking of which, a new leak surfaced in China, showing the wife of a very famous singer and actor in Asia holding a yet unreleased ZTE-branded handset. This leak actually seems kind of legit considering that the person holding the phone is rather famous, and the image seems quite professional as well. This might even be the official teaser by the company, it quite probably is actually. Anyhow, latest reports actually claim that ZTE might launch this handset during MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona, which seems kind of hard to believe considering it’s been only 8-9 months since ZTE announced the Nubia Z7. The rumors haven’t exactly been all that revealing when it comes to the benchmarks of this handset, but the Nubia Z9 might sport a screen about 5.5-inches big and be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 octa-core 64-bit processor. The handset will also quite probably sport 3 or 4GB of RAM, and will include both glass and metal as far as build materials go.
No matter how hard it is to believe that ZTE will showcase this device at MWC next month, it is possible. As previously mentioned, we haven’t heard much from ZTE lately, and this would certainly be a surprise.
