Meizu LifeKit_5

Meizu’s ‘Connected’ press event is now over. We’ve already covered the main announcement of the day, the launch of company’s extremely affordable M1 handset which is priced at 699 Yuan ($110). But this smartphone is not the only thing Meizu has announced at that conference, we’re here to take a look at other announcements from that conference, as well as some other info that Meizu mentioned during the keynote. Anyhow, let’s take a look what else Meizu had to say today in Beijing.

First and foremost, it is worth mentioning that Meizu received huge amount of reservations for their M1 Note handset which launched back in December. That handset was reserved 2 million times in the first 24 hours, which is commendable indeed. Meizu has also released some info regarding their FlymeOS, but YunOS as well. The company has announced that YunOS will be getting weekly updates and that Flyme 4.2 is focused on power management optimizations. In case you’re interested in purchasing a Flyme theme, you’ll get a 5-minute trial test before you have to buy it. This is actually a rather nice way of giving users a taste of the product before making them purchase it.

That being said, the company did announce some additional hardware along with the M1 handset, which was to be expected considering the tagline of this event was “Connected”. Anyhow, Meizu has announced their very own Smart Bulb which will cost 119 Yuan ($19) in China. That’s not all though, some sort of a Smart Scale was also announced by the company, and it is priced at 199 Yuan ($32). Partnership with Haier, Chinese multinational consumer electronics and home appliances company, was also announced, or should I say re-announced considering this was already announced recently. Meizu also launched the LifeKit health platform, or should I say service which should take advantage of the companies SmartCare products and basically keep you fit.

The company didn’t exactly showcase all of these products at length, except for the M1 handset, we’ll have to wait for some extra details before we cover each of those properly. That’s basically it, the company had lots to say at the conference and we’re waiting for some extra information to share with you.
