Android Lollipop Release Notes Posted For 2014 Moto G

Motorola-AH-205

Well it looks like Motorola is continuing their Android Lollipop update roll, earlier today Motorola went ahead and posted the release notes for the 2014 Moto G. This is right on the heels of Motorola pushing out a soak test of Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Moto X Pure Edition, an impresive 4 days after Lollipop was actually released to the public. Now, with the release notes posted, it looks like 2014 Moto G owners are going to receive the update to Android Lollipop soon as well.

What is so significant about these Motorola devices being updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop is that they are receiving it before Nexus devices are. The Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexuxs 10 and either Nexus 7 have still not received the update to Android Lollipop and Motorola has beaten them to the punch yet again. The same scenario happened last year as well with Motorola and Google when the Moto X received the update to Android 4.4 KitKat before the Nexus 4 did, a scenario that had Nexus fans irritated last year and irritated again this year. But, fortunately for Google, they have a slight excuse this time around.

The rumor in the tech world from some pretty good sources is that Google originally planned to rollout Android Lollipop to most existing devices on November 3rd along with the release of the Nexus 9. Obviously that didn’t happen and it was supposedly due to bugs that Google still needs to squash including a pretty bad one that causes extreme battery drain while your device is connected to WiFi. Again, this is all speculation that is supported by no actual facts but it has still somewhat saved Google from getting completely trashed by angered Nexus fans still waiting for their Android Lollipop update.

This whole Motorola and Google situation can be taken one of two ways. You can either look at it the negative way by getting mad that Motorola got one of their devices updated to Android Lollipop before Google could get their own devices updated or you could look at it the positive way which is that Motorola is proving that smartphone manufacturers can get Android updates out very fast. Either way, we are very impressed by Motorola and what they have been capable of, c’mon Google, get your stuff together.
