Google is rolling out an update to Google Glass this week that includes some improvements to the way users access their contacts. The update, version number XE20.1, incorporates these changes based on user feedback indicating they wanted a better, easier way to access and contact the people in their address books.
The first change Glass users may notice is that they now have access to all of the contacts in their Google account. The current list of contacts that users have in their MyGlass app will be starred in Google Contacts, making them accessible via voice command on Glass. These can be edited using the People app on a smartphone. Non-starred contacts can be accessed through use of the touch pad.
Once a contact is accessed, users will find they have some new options. They can choose to reach out to the contact via email, SMS or through Hangouts. Like other devices, the contacts accessible through Glass will be updated whenever a user updates them via any device.
Along with the changes to contacts, Google has added a few other minor changes. Users can now delete a picture they have taken using voice commands. Google also made some new Google Now cards available including a currency converter and some nearby events cards. Google also makes it possible to turn off the “head nudge” feature, which normally gives users the ability to turn Glass on based on a head movement.
Glass owners can get the update by plugging their charger in and making sure they are connected to WiFi.
