Well, it is most of the time. The exception being days like today when Motorola uses boot services to push out a new boot animation. This time it's got a World Cup theme.

So there you have it – that's what you'll see when booting up a Moto X, Moto E, or Moto G for the next few weeks.

DroidPack Brings You Nearly Every Wallpaper From Stock OEMs, ROMs, And Even Other OS Platforms

AH DroidPack

If you’re like me and millions of other Android users, you probably enjoy swapping out your wallpapers on a constant basis. Wallpapers can be a great way to give your homescreen a refreshed look, and let’s face it, sometimes the homescreen can become stagnant and boring and it just needs new life breathed into it. This can be true for many things and the wallpaper on the homescreen of Android devices is no different. Some wallpapers are great and it can be hard to let go of them, but if you like to change things up a bit now and again there are lots of different places to obtain your wallpapers. Better yet, maybe you just really like the standard wallpapers that are produced and included with many of today’s(and yesterday’s)top flagship devices, and lets not forget about some of the really cool wallpapers we see come included with some of the most popular ROMs.

DroidPack, if you enjoy the ROM wallpapers and the standard(stock)homescreen wallpapers that come with flagship devices, is your saving grace to getting some of the best wallpapers to use on your device, no matter what that device might be. You can choose to forego this awesome app and just collect all those great wallpapers yourself, scouring the seedy bits of the internet in an attempt to snag every wallpaper that’s included here, but that takes time and why put all that time and effort into it when DroidPack has done the hard work for you? DroidPack comes from a forum member named donniemceduns over at none other than XDA Developers, a place where we commonly find cool things like this wallpaper pack here for example.

DroidPack is simple to use and easily organized so that you can find the wallpapers you’re looking for without much effort. The wallpapers are split up into Stock OEM categories and ROM categories so that you can narrow down your options. Maybe this week you feel like a Paranoid Android, perhaps next week you want to sport one of the awesome new wallpapers from the HTC One M8. Whatever your tastes are at the moment, DroidPack can help you out with that. It’s even setup so that you can filter the wallpaper options by Android version, or OS types, including those that aren’t Android like iOS and others. Pretty cool right? You can grab DroidPack from the Play Store link here, and yes it’s free. WOOT!

The Worlds First Ever Wireless Mobile Charging Trousers Are Here

fashion-designer-adrien-sauvage-and-microsoft-partner-to-create-first-wireless-phone-charging-pants

As ridiculous as this may sound, wireless mobile-charging trousers are real. Now the first thing that I would like to point out is that these pants are not machine washable; just in case you were already wondering, because I was. So to get back to the matter at hand, British Fashion Designer Adrien Sauvage teamed up with Microsoft to create the worlds first ever trousers that can recharge your phone. Again, this may sound really ridiculous but maybe genius as well. “My phone is always dying so I was super interested in the idea,” said Adrien Sauvage. Microsoft and Mr. Sauvage started the project six months ago when he first started experimenting with wearable technology.

So how do these pants work? The “Wearable Chino” as described by Adrien Sauvage has been fitted with a wireless charging plate from a Nokia DC-50 and are placed within the front pockets of the trousers. Adrien Sauvage said that when creating the pants they went through a lot of “trial and error.” He also added “Having something that you could wear without the technology feeling cumbersome was a challenge. It was also difficult to distribute the heat so that the wearer wouldn’t feel like they were in a sauna.” Even with all of the trials and tribulations they encountered when engineering the trousers, they were able to overcome them and build prototypes. The prototypes of the wearable chinos will be modeled at Bloomsbury as part of Adrien Sauvage’s spring/summer show at London Collections for Men. Adam Johnson, head of marketing for Nokia Devices admitted “We don’t see a mass-market opportunity for wireless-charging trousers.” Adam Johnson also supported the project and later added “We’re just having a bit of a hack, trying to move the wearable technology concept beyond smart watches. This is a world first.”

Adrien Sauvage predicts that fashion designers will implement technology in their clothes stating “It’s already happening with sportswear and people use their phones so much that technology like this will be increasingly integrated into clothing.” The idea sounds a little too spaced out but hey, we all may start wearing pants that can charge our phones. If you want to get your hands on a pair of wireless mobile-charging pants, they will be available to buy for the next three months on Amazons fashion store. There is not a set price for the pants but Mr Sauvage predicts that his wearable chinos will cost over $340.

Yelp now allows you to send messages directly to businesses

Yelp direct messaging update

In its conquest to become the de facto source for business listings and reviews, Yelp is announcing yet another new feature for desktop and mobile. Available today, Yelp users can now send direct messages to businesses straight from their Yelp business listings. If you hop inside the Yelp app, you’ll now see the option appear (participating businesses only) right in the listing. For business owners, received messages will be forwarded to their email account, where they can then be replied to right from the email.

Yelp Business Message email screenshot

In our busy lives, sometimes picking up the phone to inquire about services (or complain about service) isn’t the easiest way of going about things. For those that work long hours in the office, sending a simple message could provide a much better convenience. It could also help act as a buffer. A 1-star review from a jaded Yelper who received a wrong order can hurt a business far more than they know. Being able to directly message business is a great way to handle customer service issues outside away from public view.

You’ll find the new direct messaging feature in both Yelp for Android and iOS, as well as the desktop. Download link provided below.

German Play Store Briefly Displays Data Suggesting LG G Watch Sales In The Devices Section

lg g watch 1

Google I/O is now less than 10 days away and for many that means one thing and one thing only. We finally get to see officially what Android Wear looks like from an in depth perspective by Google themselves. Google is slated to give more details about Android Wear at the developer conference on the 25th and 26th, and we know for this various reasons including the sessions about Android Wear taking place on either day. The other factor about Android Wear at the event is that we’ll be getting to see the first of the smartwatches running the Android Wear software up close and personal from Google, the LG G Watch. There have been plenty of rumors about when and where the LG G Watch would begin selling and it’s now known that Google I/O attendees will be getting their very own G Watch given away to them at the event.

The latest rumor suggests that Google may actually be looking to sell the LG G Watch on Google Play in the devices section, which honestly wouldn’t strike us as a surprise. The information comes to us from a German website androidnext.de that points out some findings on the German version of the Google Play devices page, which lists some interesting information that seems to be about the G Watch. There is a header on the page that has no pictures associated with it yet, but states that “G Watch never sleeps. The always-on display will show you time and notifications without you having to touch it”, with a header that simply says, “Continuously Active Display”. Another mention under the header comments that the device has a 400mAh battery inside, which we know isn’t any of the Chromebooks or Nexus devices.

There have already been rumors that Google would be planning to sell the G Watch via Google Play alongside the other devices that we can already see and purchase there, and this further gives weight to those rumors. After having checked the German version of the Play Store page where this information was found, it looks as though Google has fixed whatever information wasn’t supposed to be there in the first place, but we do have images(screenshots)to show that it used to be there courtesy of the source.

OnePlus giving away 2500 invites and a free device!

oneplus one aa (7 of 34)

Welcomed with the warmest attention and excitement, the OnePlus One is also one of the most exclusive devices we have seen. This affordable gem comes with top-of-the-line specs, a stunning design and solid build quality. It’s a steal for just $300, but the invite system has fans growing more desperate by the day.

It may have taken a bit longer than expected, but OnePlus is finally ready to start shipping more substantial amounts of devices. The Chinese manufacturer has just launched their “Storm of Invites” campaign, in which 2500 invites will be given away, along with a free 64 GB Sandstone Black Edition OnePlus One for a lucky winner.

OnePlus One is using social networks to both advertise and give away invites. Social networking has been the manufacturer’s strongest tool so far, making such a move obvious. Users can enter to win in 5 ways, each counting for an individual entry.

How can I enter to win an invite or a new OnePlus One?

Go to OnePlus’ Storm of Invites website and perform one of the following options:

  • Like OnePlus’ Facebook page

  • Join the OnePlus Mailing List

  • Tweet about the Giveaway

  • Follow OnePlus on Instagram

  • Write a Message in OnePlus’ Forums

After taking care of business, you can simply wait until the contest is over and OnePlus has chosen the winners. We don’t know the exact details, but it seems winners will be chosen at random, including the smartphone winner. Demand is high, so make sure to get your entries in time.

Do keep in mind participants must be 18 years or older, and reside in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom or the United States. You are not allowed to win more than one invite (yet), so don’t try that either.

Those who don’t make it in can still buy a OnePlus One from OppoMart.com, but that has some significant caveats, including a higher price. It may very well be worth it, though. The device is quite stunning. You can read more about it in our full OnePlus One review. Check it out and go get your invites!

OnePlus ‘Storm of Invites’ promo will have you jumping through a few hoops for a chance at buying the phone

OnePlus One storm of invites promotion

If you’re still itching for a chance to pick up the OnePlus One, you — and about 2,500 others — now have your best chance yet. The startup announced an all new promotion via their Google+ page that, according to them, will rain a storm of invites upon lucky fans. Of course like most things OnePlus…. there’s a catch.

OnePlus One 64GB Sandstone Black

Really it’s not much. All you have to do is plug the company across a variety of social networks for a chance at winning one of the 2,500 invites being given out for the 64GB “Sandstone black” model. To make things interesting, 1 lucky participant will win a free OnePlus One 64GB completely free of charge. Here are a few of the “hoops” you’ll need to jump through (each one is worth 1 entry), but it’s up to you to decide if they’re worth it for an invite:

  • Like OnePlus on Facebook

  • Join the OnePlus mailing list

  • Tweet about the “giveaway” on Twitter

  • Follow OnePlus on Instagram

  • Write a message on the OnePlus forums

With already 126,000+ entries, your chances of winning an invite aren’t exactly in your favor. Here’s to hoping they’ll soon open the flood gates and finally give everyone who wants to purchase the Cyanogen phone a chance at owning one before things turn sour.
