Periscope Brings Landscape Mode Support to Streamers

Periscope, the Twitter-developed app that allows users to livestream events to anyone on Twitter, has a fancy new mode for people to play with. Before this update, users were forced to stream in Portrait mode, but now, Landscape support is available.

In addition to a new orientation to tryout, users who stream privately can now cast to mutual parties. This means that instead of streaming to the whole world, you can stream to only those who follow you and that you follow back. This will allow for a more engaging stream.

What’s New

  • Landscape: When a broadcaster holds their phone in landscape, the video will now be oriented properly for all viewers. Viewers can continue holding their device in portrait, or match the broadcaster’s orientation to maintain full screen video. Either way, you’ll never need to watch sideways video again!
  • Broadcast to Mutuals: Now when you select a Private Broadcast, you are presented with your followers that you also follow back.
