Huawei is expected to unveil their next high-end flagship device at the end of this month, the Huawei P8, possibly alongside a lighter, and less expensive version of the device appropriately being referred to as the Huawei P8 Lite. While those two devices are seemingly looking to attack the high-end and possibly mid-range device groups, it seems Huawei has slyly placed a device in the low-end category onto Amazon for purchase by consumers. The phone is called the Huawei SnapTo, (also referred to as the Huawei Expo on the actual Amazon listing title) and it’s an unlocked device so it should work on multiple GSM networks. It also comes with LTE compatibility and can be picked up for merely $180 which is right around the price range of the Motorola Moto E.
The listing mentions that it supports AT&T and T-Mobile with 2G, 3G, 4G, and LTE (bands 2, 4, 5, and 12) frequencies with supported download speeds of up to 150 Mbps, so for consumers that live in an area with LTE speeds the SnapTo should provide some pretty quick browsing and file/app/game downloads. Although it only mentions AT&T and T-Mobile it is unlocked so it should be usable on any GSM network here in the states, although speeds specific band support may vary. The device comes in two different colors, black and white, and is scheduled to be released for April 9th according to Amazon, so at the moment the phone can’t actually be purchased and shipped immediately, however it can be pre-ordered and it’s already the 7th so shipping would happen starting this Thursday most likely.
As for the specifications, the Huawei SnapTo features a 5-inch TFT HD (720p) display with a 2MP camera on the front and a 5MP auto-focus camera on the back. It’s running Android 4.4 Kit Kat with the Huawei Emotion UI version 2.3 over the top, and carries 8GB of internal storage with the option to expand via the microSD card. It also houses 1GB of RAM and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU, with a 2,200 mAh battery to keep things going throughout the day. The big focus here is obviously the camera (if it wasn’t given away by the name) which Huawei states comes with their Ultra Snapshot function boasting an image capturing time of 0.4 seconds.
