Oppo R5 In Gold To Become Available For Purchase In China Tomorrow

Oppo released two new devices back in October, the Oppo N3 and Oppo R5. The N3 model was (and still is) company’s flagship device which differentiates itself from the competition to some extent. The main differentiating factor of this device is its auto-rotating motorized camera on the top of the device, which is capable of acting as a front and back-facing shooter, and can take some really nice images. The other mentioned device, Oppo R5, was the thinnest smartphone in the world at the time it was launched, and it is currently the third on that list, below Coolpad’s Ivvi K1 Mini and the Vivo X5 Max.

The Oppo R5 is available for purchase in China for quite some time now, and is also available in several other regions in Asia. This handset was available in Silver color only, well, at least thus far, the company has unveiled another color this device will be available in. And yes, it’s the Gold color we’re talking about here. It seems like it’s quite common for smartphone OEMs to make Gold (or as some call it, champagne) colored smartphones, so there’s probably some demand for such handsets out there. This device will launch soon on Chinese New Year in that Asian country, and its specifications remain unchanged compared to the original R5.

The Oppo R5 sports a 5.2-inch full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display along with 2GB of RAM for all your multitasking needs and 16GB of internal storage. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615, a 64-bit octa-core SoC clocked at 2.1GHz which comes with an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics. On the back of the device, you’ll find a 13-megapixel camera (Sony’s IMX214 sensor, f2.0 aperture) which is flanked by an LED flash. The 5-megapixel shooter is located at the front side of the device and it offers an 80-degree wide angle lens. As I already mentioned, the device ships with 2,000mAh battery. Android 4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed on this handset with Oppo’s ColorOS 2.0 on top of it. Oppo R5 measures 148.9 x 74.5 x 4.85mm while it weighs 155 grams.
