Asus’ Fonepad 7 was originally announced in 2013, the 2nd-gen device was released back at MWC (Mobile World Congress) and the company has just announced yet another member of the Asus Fonepad line that carries the same name. This device is rather similar to the last year’s Asus Fonepad 7, but there are some differences, of course. Anyhow, let’s see what Asus came up with this year, shall we.
The Fonepad 7 (FE375CL) features a 7-inch 1280 x 800 IPS display along with 2GB of RAM for your multitasking needs and 8 or 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). This device is powered by Intel’s Atom 3530 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz and it ships with a 3,950mAh battery. 4G LTE connectivity is also available here, which also means you can insert your SIM card in this tablet, as its name suggests. 5-megapixel camera is located on the back of this device, while there’s a 2-megapixel snapper available up front. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are also available here, of course. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this device.
As you can see, this device offers more RAM, a slightly bigger battery and there are some other small differences between this device, and its previous iteration. The Asus Fonepad 7 (FE375CL) will sell for NT$7,990 ($252) in Taiwan, though it will almost certainly launch in other markets. The company did not reveal any information regarding this device’s availability or pricing in other markets though, we’ll just have to wait and see what the company will say in the future. It’s rather interesting that the company decided to release this news prior to MWC (Mobile World Congress), though this device might be showcased in Barcelona next month. As a side note, Asus might be getting ready to showcase the new Zenfone 2 variant at MWC next month as well, its specifications leaked recently, showing off basically every detail about the device itself. We, of course, cannot verify how legit that info is, but we’ll all find out soon. In the meantime, let us know if you own an Asus-branded smartphone or tablet, or if you had the chance to use one. We’d love to hear what you think of Asus’ products.
