A bunch of Android devices from various manufacturers have already received Android Lollipop, but many of them still haven’t. Xiaomi Mi4 is definitely such a device, this thing was launched in July last year and was Xiaomi’s flagship until the Mi Note handsets launched earlier this month. The Mi4 is definitely one of those devices that is certain to receive the Android Lollipop upgrade, the only question is… when? Well, a couple of days ago, Xiaomi asked for people to apply for beta testing of MIUI 6 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop for Mi2, Mi2S and Mi2A devices. This seemed odd to many people considering these devices are quite old, they started wondering why did Xiaomi leave out the Mi4 from this list.
Well, we still don’t know for sure, but the Lollipop-running Mi4 has surfaced in China. Two images showing off the Xiaomi Mi4W (WCDMA) handset running Lollipop appeared on Weibo (Chinese social network). We’re not talking about the official Android Lollipop for the Mi4 though, this is the unofficial port of CyanogenMod 12, this version of the ROM is based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. These are still some good news for those of you who own the Mi4 and want to get Lollipop on there by any means necessary. If flashing is something you don’t mind doing, this might be your option really soon it seems.
I’m sure this is not what most of you wanted to hear, but considering that Xiaomi is already testing the Lollipop build for the Mi2 handsets, the Mi4 version can’t be far behind, now can it. I’m sure that the company will release Android Lollipop for the Mi4 in the next couple of months, we’ll just have to keep an eye out for any news regarding the update. Either way, are you amongst those people who own the Xiaomi Mi4 and are waiting for the company to update the phone to the newest version of Android? I know this can be a somewhat annoying process when it comes to Xiaomi considering they weren’t exactly the fastest around when it comes to updating, but the company is at least trying to improve in that area.
