Meizu has held an event in China a few days ago where they announced the all new M1 handset and a bunch of Home Automation products as part of their LifeKit platform. Meizu has announced the RyFit Smart Scale, X-Light Plus Smart Bulb, and three new smart products as part of their new partnership with Haier, Haier Air Box, Haier Air Cube and Haier Tianbo air conditioner. That wasn’t all though, the company has also announced the only-Chinese version of the M1 Note handset, which is, unlike the original, powered by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 SoC, a 64-bit octa-core processor.
We’ve covered all of these announcements already, but a new Meizu device arrived for certification in China. One would think this is the Meizu M1 Note for China, but it doesn’t look like it, let me explain. It was said that the M1 Note handset for China will look exactly the same on the outside as the global M1 Note, identical. Well, the device which got certified is a bit different, the dimensions aren’t all that different, but it seems like they’re slightly off. Not only are the dimensions of the Meizu listed and the device that got certified are different, but the battery size as well. Meizu lists the 3,140mAh battery on their website and this #M463C device which got certified carries a 3,050mAh unit. Unfortunately the listing really doesn’t reveal all that much and we cannot say for sure what is going on here. I somehow doubt this is the M1 Note considering these changes, Meizu has already listed the M1 Note on their website and there are differences between these two models. Is Meizu planning to announce something else, or is this just a mistake or something? We’ll find out soon I guess.
Anyhow, the newly-announced, Snapdragon 615-powered Meizu M1 Note features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, along with 2GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of non-expandable internal storage. 13-megapixel camera is located on the back of this thing along with a dual-LED flash, and a 5-megapixel snapper is available up front. The 16GB version of this handset will cost 1,099 Yuan ($176), while a 32GB model will set you back 1,299 Yuan ($208).
