The Yotaphone 2 Shows Up At The FCC This Week For A Teardown And Testing

Earlier this week at CES the team behind the Yotaphone 2(Yota Devices)showed off their latest device, and we also learned that they’re planning to launch the Yotaphone 2 in North America. Not just in the U.S., but also in Canada, and that at least here in the U.S. they had confirmed it to be launching on one of the four major U.S. carriers, without mention on any specifics as to which carrier that would be. Basically it’s still up in the air as far as we’re concerned and it could be either Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, or Sprint who picks up this device, although we’d have hoped for it to come to all four carriers.

While Yotaphone was busy showing off the Yotaphone 2 at CES 2015, the device itself was also busy arriving at the FCC and getting torn down to display what’s on the inside of the device. We already know about most of if not all of the specs of the device as it has already launched, which includes the 2GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, as well as a 5-inch AMOLED main display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, and the secondary 4.7-inch E-ink display which carries the resolution of 960 x 540.

It also has 32GB of internal storage space, and it’s powered by a 2500mAh battery. During its time at the FCC this week, the Yotaphone 2 looks to have gotten a full teardown, so we can see the insides of the device(i.e. the circuit boards and other internals)and it looks like the FCC also did some testing on the phone while it was there for radiated measurements below 1GHz. The FCC also gives us a look at the user manual for the Yotaphone 2, which has all the basic things you’d expect from it inside, like how to install the SIM card, charge the device using the A/C wall adapter and so on. Perhaps since the Yotaphone 2 is making its rounds at the FCC, we can expect to see the launch here in the states sooner than we would have expected.
