Meizu Announced The Snapdragon-Powered M1 Note Handset For The Chinese Market

Meizu M1 Note AH-34

Meizu has announced the M1 Note handset back in December, and the company has held an event yesterday where they announced its smaller brother, the Meizu M1. It seems like the company also unveiled another version of M1 Note as well, a China-only version it seems. What’s very interesting about this device is the fact that it’s powered by a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SoC, unlike the original M1 Note which is powered by MediaTek’s MT6752 chip. Anyhow, let’s see what’s new / different.

No need to mention that this device looks identical to the original M1 Note, the only differences you’ll find here are located on the inside. This device is made for China Telecom’s CDMA network, and the only difference between the two devices is in the SoC and the bands (aside from the CDMA, it supports GSM, TD-LTE and FDD-LTE bands). Another interesting fact here, this is the first Snapdragon-powered Meizu handset to date, which is very interesting as well. This might mean we’ll see more Meizu handsets being equipped with Qualcomm’s chips in the future, that’s just a guess on my part, but it seems likely at this point.

This handset still features 2GB of RAM and comes in 16 and 32GB internal storage variants without an SD card expansion. The Adreno 405 GPU ships with the Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core chip here, of course, and the device equips a 3,140mAh battery as well. 13-megapixel camera is located on the back of this thing along with a dual LED flash, while you’ll find a 5-megapixel snapper on the front side of this device. 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display is still here as well.

The 16GB version of this handset will cost 1,099 Yuan ($176), while a 32GB model will set you back 1,299 Yuan ($208). So, there you have it, the M1 Note handset now has a twin brother of sorts which is running a different processor. That being said, have you had the chance to play around with the original Meizu M1 Note, do you own one and do you intend to purchase this new Snapdragon-powered version? Let us know what you think.
