Unless you’re aching to have Taylor Swift write your name in that blank space, Spotify has offered up a pretty sweet deal for first-time users. Now through December 31st, new users of Spotify Premium can enjoy three months of ad-free music and higher bitrates for the very low price of 99 cents. Total. That’s a $29 savings.
As is typically the case with deals like this, there are terms and conditions galore. Setting up the deal requires linking a credit card to your Spotify account, and if you do not cancel after three months, you’ll be automatically charged the regular $9.99/month that typical Premium users pay.
Also, users who have paid for Premium in the past or have taken a free trial are ineligible. So unless you intend to start up an entirely new Spotify account linked to a different email address or social media account, you’re out of luck.
With increased pressure from Google Play Music All Access and YouTube Music Key, Spotify is clearly angling to bring more users to its Premium platform, and paying a buck for three months of the service is a good bargain, regardless of whether or not you elect to keep it.
