According to a recent study conducted by the University of Central Florida, using Google Glass to text whilst driving is just as distracting as responding to a message wielding your touchscreen-enabled smartphone.
The experiment revealed that drivers using Glassware took just as long as drivers who physically used their handset to react to obstacles on the road. This perfectly coincides with a study conducted by AAA a little over a year ago, which demonstrated that voice-based texting when driving presented a more serious distraction than talking with the phone in your hand.
Google Glass does have one advantage, though. The investigation showed that participants wearing the unit were able to return to ‘normal’ driving after a traffic incident faster than those using their phones.
