The name Xiaomi is not well known in many Western markets, but on the strength of their fans in China, the company recently took over the number 3 spot for smartphone market share during the third quarter of 2014. To help keep those sales growing, the company is working on a new flagship device, the Xiaomi Mi5. Some new images have surfaced on Weibo allegedly showing the new device.
No details about the hardware were released with the leaked images, but we can see that Xaiomi appears to be taking a page out of the HTC design book with this latest device. Along with the photos that captured the device, Weibo user iLevon also posted what is claimed to be a press render.
The release of the Xaiomi Mi5 is probably still a few months away, so we will have to wait to find out how accurate this leak is. Whenever the device is announced, it will probably come with a nice set of hardware at a reasonable price. Likely, especially if you are in the U.S., you will not be able to buy it either.
