According to a report published by DigiTimes this weekend, ASUS is currently in the process of developing its largest ever smartphone, a 5.5-inch Zenfone, which is expected to be unveiled at the annual CES conference in January, 2015.
It was only during this year’s Consumer Electronics Show that ASUS took the wraps off its latest trio of affordable devices, the Zenfone 4, 5 and 6, and we believe the upcoming 5.5” handset will make its debut appearance alongside their successors.
Analysts suggest that we could see the company announce even more new smartphones this year, as ASUS originally predicted that it would sell approximately 5 million Zenfones by the end of 2014. However, DigiTimes reports that it could in fact now ship 7.5 – 8 million units before the end of the year.
In terms of forecasts for 2015, it’s thought that the new and improved Zenfone line may help ASUS sell a total of 16 million smartphones around the world, with the main source of income coming from Asian and European markets.
