Moto X, Moto Hint, Motorola Turbo Charger Preorder From Tuesday, Moto 360 Back In Stock Too

Motorola-Logo-AH-4

Motorola have announced that they’re to open up pre-orders for a number of their new products, but only in North America and from Tuesday onwards. The AT&T Moto X (available from $99.99 on a two year plan), the Pure Edition Moto X (from $499.99, which arrives unlocked and with an unlockable bootloader), the Moto Hint Bluetooth headset (at $149.99) and the Motorola Turbo Charger (this uses Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ 2.0 and is yours for $34.99), available to preorder from 1100 hours Central Time on Tuesday. Motorola’s blog states that they’ll provide shipping dates at the time of checkout but warns that the shipping date will vary by product. Their blog also reminds US customers that there’s a Trade In program, whereby if you send in your old device, Motorola will send you a prepaid Visa card worth up to $300. And don’t despair (too much!) if you’re in the UK, France or Germany, because the newly designed Moto Maker is up and running at the Motorola site.

If you didn’t follow the link above, the 2014 Moto X is Motorola’s 2014 flagship smartphone. It’s based around a quad core 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2 GB of RAM. There’s either 16 GB or 32 GB of storage and a 5.2-inch, 1080p AMOLED display. Under the skin, it comes with a 2,300 mAh battery, high speed WiFi, LTE, NFC and a 13 MP rear camera. The Moto X also comes with a near-stock interface that’s been polished with Motorola’s special software sauce: you get Moto Voice, which gives you touchless voice control and you can rename your device (great for avoiding triggering half a dozen Moto X devices), Moto Assist to help change your handset’s behavior depending on what else you are doing such as driving. The X comes with Moto Display, where notifications briefly flash up on the device when you pick it up rather than illuminate the whole screen, and finally Moto Actions, where you can control certain aspects of the device using hand gestures in front of the machine.

Let me write about the Moto Hint, which is a tiny Bluetooth headset with several smart features. Firstly, the device turns on when you place it in your ear and shuts down when you remove it thanks to an infrared proximity sensor. No more having to turn the device on and pop it into your ear, instead calls are routed to the Hint when you’re wearing it and to your smartphone when not. It comes with a charging case, giving you two additional recharges when you place the bud into it. Oh and it’s tiny! It fits into your ear with no over-the-ear hook or awkward protrusions. The Hint offers a Bluetooth wireless range of 150 feet and is compatible with a huge number of Bluetooth-enabled devices. It’s available in a choice of materials and colours, too. Oh and one more thing… The Moto 360 will be back in stock at www.motorola.com on Tuesday. Stocks are going to be limited; are you planning on picking up this season’s favourite Android Wear smartwatch? Or are you more interested in the Moto X, Moto Hint or Moto Turbo Charge?
