HTC has just begun sending out invites to a September 4th event. Which we have no idea what they are going to be announcing, but the invite says that they’ll show us what’s next for smartphones. So maybe they are talking about the 64-bit A11 we’ve heard about. We may even see a smartwatch at this event or even the anticipated HTC One (M8) Max. With them having an event at IFA, I don’t think we’ll be seeing just one device at this event. But we’ll have to wait and see what HTC has up their sleeves this time around.
For the past few years, HTC hasn’t held a press conference at IFA in Berlin, so it’ll be interesting to see what they have to announce. Typically they announce stuff at Mobile World Congress in February and have their own event for their flagships. So maybe this marks the turnaround for HTC? Who knows.
I doubt we’ll see anything huge from HTC, with Samsung announcing the Galaxy Note 4 the day before in the same city. But they should still get some decent press, since many people will be in the area. So far we have HTC, Huawei, Sony, and Samsung inked in for IFA press conferences. We’ll likely see a few more announced in the next couple of weeks leading up to September 3rd and 4th. The actual conference starts on September 5th and lasts through the 10th, though. Anyone have any thoughts on what we might see? Samsung is likely the Galaxy Note 4, Gear VR and a few other wearables. Sony is going to announce the Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and probably a few other goodies, and HTC well we don’t know yet. Hopefully something exciting.
