We’ve heard rumors of the HTC Eye before, but nothing really concrete. We haven’t even seen leaked images of this device just yet. But apparently the HTC Eye is supposed to have a killer front-facing camera, and also be noted as the “Selfie Phone” which is obvious since it is being dubbed the HTC Eye. But now we’re hearing from @Upleaks over on Twitter that the HTC Eye is going to be heading to all four US carriers. That’s T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T and Verizon.
I have to say, this is a bit surprising since usually OEMs only get one try on all four carriers, each year. Unless you’re Samsung. Otherwise they want exclusives, which is evident with the Galaxy S5 Active, Galaxy S5 Sport, etc. So seeing the HTC Eye on all four carriers will be a bit interesting, and I sure hope it does well. But according to all the rumors that I’ve read, I don’t expect it to do much in terms of sales. Although it’ll probably sell better than the Amazon Fire Phone and HTC First. However, there are lots of people taking selfies that would probably love this phone, for it’s high megapixel count front-facing camera.
What will also be interesting is the specs and the price point. Is the HTC Eye going to be a high-end device like the One M8? It’ll be very interesting to see what happens here. I do have high hopes for HTC and hope they can make a decent come back. And with all the camera features they have in Sense 6.0, it could do pretty well. We’ll just have to wait and see what the rest of the specs look like though to be sure.
