Alleged Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Render Leaks Out

note-4-possible-render

We’re inching closer and closer to the Unpacked 2014 Episode 2 event next week. And there’s a brand new render that has leaked out this afternoon. Our friends over at Android Authority got their hands on a brand new render, that is hard to tell whether it’s fake or not. It looks a lot like the device that GSM Arena got their hands on earlier this month, but that doesn’t mean it’s not an early prototype or a fake. You’ll also notice that the wallpaper on this render is the one that Sammobile leaked out yesterday. Which gives it a bit more credibility but not much more.

It looks a lot like the Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy Note 3 mixed together. As you can see the corners are a bit more flat and instead of curved. It also looks like we’ve got the metal frame as the Galaxy Alpha has as well. it looks like a good device, but we’ll have to wait to see if it is really real. As we know from the Galaxy S5, we may not see the final design until the day of or day before the Unpacked event in Berlin. For those wondering, Samsung’s Unpacked 2014 Episode 2 event starts on September 3rd at 3pm Berlin time. For those in the US that’s 9am ET, and 6am PT. We’ll be covering this event as we always do so make sure you stay tuned to Android Headlines.

As far as specs go, we’re looking at a 5.7-inch 2560×1440 resolution AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. We’ve also heard it’ll have the same 16MP sensor as the Galaxy S5 had earlier this year. Basically, it’s going to be a beast and we definitely can’t wait to see what else Samsung has under wraps to show us next week. How many of you are excited for the Galaxy Note 4? What do you think of this render? Let us know in the comments below.

Verizon Re-Releases The DROID RAZR M As The Motorola Luge, Available For Prepaid Customers At $199.99

luge thumb I used the Motorola DROID RAZR M as my primary phone for over six months. I was in between jobs, my not-so-trusty Galaxy Nexus had been smashed, and I knew from previous experience that Motorola's resurrected RAZR line had tough builds and good radios. While it was ostensibly a "budget phone," that ugly little DROID RAZR M was the most reliable Android device I had ever owned. When I got back on my feet, I skipped flagships from Samsung, LG, and HTC, and went straight for Motorola's next DROID phone.

Style comes at a cost – G Watch R to cost 100 euros more than G Watch in Europe

lg-g-watch-r-

LG took us by surprise with its late night announcement of the circular G Watch R, but there were two important details missing from the official press release – the G Watch R’s price and availability.

Now, thanks to an apparent slipup of LG Germany, it looks like we found out the price, and it’s not good news.

According to the German press release announcing the G Watch R, the device will cost 299 euros, a full 100 euros more than the rectangular G Watch, released just a couple of months ago.

Since the specs of the circular G Watch are almost the same with those of its rectangular predecessor, the logical conclusion to draw is that you pay for the image. The circular P-OLED display may be more expensive and manufacturing costs could be overall higher for the G Watch R, but it looks likely that LG is trying to bank (at least partially) on the more desirable circular form factor.

In our open thread on the G Watch R and how it compares to the Moto 360, most of you said you’ll wait for details before making a decision, and the price is probably the most important detail of all. Motorola’s round smartwatch will probably cost $250 – if the G Watch R costs $300-$350 in the US, it may have a hard time competing.

The German press release also slates the G Watch R’s release date for October, though other regions may get it at a different time.

LG Tells us the European Price of the G Watch R in Press Release – 299 Euro

AH LG G WATCH R-22

Well, LG tried to pull a fast one on us. They put in the European price of the LG G Watch R which they announced last night, into a German press release. It looks like it’ll be 299 Euro which translates to almost $400 USD. Check out this part of the press release down below.

“Die LG G Watch R wird in Deutschland ab Oktober zu einem UVP von 299 Euro verfügbar sein. Auf der IFA in Berlin ist die G Watch R vom 5. Bis 10. September am LG-Stand in Halle 11.2 bereits zu bewundern.

Google translation:

The LG G Watch R will be available in Germany from October at a recommended retail price of 299 euros. At IFA in Berlin Until September 10 at the LG booth in Hall 11.2 already admire the G Watch R on 5.”

The LG G Watch R is a nice looking smartwatch and has a round display, which seems to get everyone all excited these days. The LG G Watch R is basically the same as the LG G Watch, but with a round display. It does look really nice and doesn’t have a black bar like the Moto 360 does. But it definitely has a higher price tag. At least from what we’ve been told. Leaks are telling us the Moto 360 will be $249 and the LG G Watch R is going to be almost twice that. However, while 299 Euros translates to almost $400 USD, we’ll likely see it for about $300 USD instead. As the numbers are usually close to the same in every currency with Google products.

We definitely like the look of the LG G Watch R, but not sure it’s worth that price. It does say that we should get about 2 days of use out of it, which is about what I get out of my G Watch already. So anyone looking at picking one up when it hits in Q4?

Mobie360 Launcher – Indie app of the day

What is Mobie360 Launcher?

Mobie360 Launcher is an app that’s currently in beta. It wants to be the end-all-be-all of your launcher selections and has a lot of features to that effect. We’re not just talking about launcher features, but features you’ get from others apps too.

First and foremost, Mobie360 Launcher is a launcher which means it’ll replace your stock launcher. It comes with three lock screens. The left screen is your device health, set up status, and various other phone statistics. You can also check your device’s security there because this launcher comes with built-in anti-malware features.

The middle screen is your main screen and it features a wheel of app icons. The apps change based on information like your location, your interests, the time of day, etc. In the center is your app expression button. By pressing it you can select things like Chilling, Catching Up, etc to show a whole new list of apps that (should) correspond with the name of the expressions.

The right home screen simply holds the last expressions you accessed. That way it doesn’t disturb any of your other home screens. Across the bottom is your standard 4-icon dock and the app drawer is your standard, horizontal, paginated drawer.

Really the best way to get acquainted with this launcher is to use it for a few days. You won’t see many of the features within minutes after installing. Mobile360 Launcher requires some time to get used to your usage habits, your locations, and all that jazz just like any other contextual launcher.

Mobie360 Launcher

It's something a little different.

PROS

  • It's a unique premise. There are other contextual launchers but none of them present like Mobie360 Launcher.

  • It has a number of other features like a battery life calculator, built-in anti-malware, mobile data usage calculator, and other stuff.

  • Simple to use. Three home screens and most features are laid out in a manner that makes them easy to access.

  • There is a lot of set up, but the app does pretty well after that at figuring out your routines.

CONS

  • No widget or icon pack support.

  • Beta = bugs.

  • Simplicity comes at the price of customization featuers.

7.5

If you decide to give it a shot then you should remember that it is still in beta. That means there will almost certainly be some bugs that still need ironed out and some features that still need to be implemented. That said, it’s an interesting take on the Android home screen. It doesn’t have the customization or freedom of other launchers but with popular apps like Aviate, sometimes people just want something more simple.
