Hotel My Phone provides messaging and calls from friend’s phone
The people behind PPLCONNECT and PPLNOTIFY have another useful app on its hands. Hotel My Phone is a peer-to-peer phone sharing solution that displays contacts, sends/receives messages, and places calls all from a friend or family member’s phone. The developer describes it as “Airbnb for your smartphone.” Users connect to a digital hotel for smartphones. When one user forgets his or her phone or it runs out of battery, they can use Hotel My Phone to check-in on friend’s and stay in touch with everyone. Only people connected to the same digital hotel can use Hotel My Phone and each user’s data is kept separate from others.
Denzil D’Sa, co-founder of Hotel My Phone, had this to say about how the app works:
When a user checks-in to a friend’s smartphone hotel, their session is secured and only active for a 4 hour period maximum. This means, users can check-in to a friend’s app, text and call with their number, and then log out, while keeping both the guest and the host’s information secured and confidential.
Hotel My Phone is available now, for free, in the Play Store.

Google removes red and white Nexus 5 units from the Play Store — only black remains
We’re not sure if this means anything yet, but it’s worth noting anyway — Google has reduced the options of Nexus 5 units you can get from Google Play. The company has taken down the red and white color options, leaving only black for those who are still in the market for one.
There are a number of reasons Google could be doing this. It’s possible those models weren’t nearly as popular as the black one and so Google has requested LG to stop manufacturing them. It could also be early indication that the Nexus 5 is getting ready to be sunset on Google Play, and that Google still has too many black units remaining before they can make that happen. It is worth noting that the black model is currently showing out of inventory for both 16GB and 32GB variants.
It’d be a sad day to see the Nexus 5 wiped from the Google Play Store. While it’s outclassed by the Nexus 6 in many ways, it’s still a very great option and has powerful enough specs to hold its own. It’s also very inexpensive and could arguably be a better value than the Nexus 6 currently is.
Of course, it could also be possible we’ll see the Nexus 5 on the Play Store for a while yet and Google’s just doing a little tidying up in a digital storefront that’s starting to get pretty full.

I love Jeopardy. If it wasn't for football and Agents of SHIELD, Jeopardy would be the only reason I have an over-the-air antenna hooked up to my TV. Apparently someone at Google feels the same way, because at least one viewer started seeing information about the quiz show's answers as they appear on television. The Google Now card live updated with the show as clues were chosen and then answered (in the form of a question).

Shazam App Updated on Google Play With Material Design Interface
Folks who use Shazam , the service that identifies any piece of music which might be playing around you, can go grab the updated version of the application, which introduces Google’s Material Design UI guidelines.
In the update, the floating action button allows for quick sound searches, and just a general reorganization of features. Besides a bit more of a flat look to the overall design, Shazam added in a way to keep up to date with the latest from artists you have previously Shazamed, as well as instant access to the “freshest Shazam charts.”
