New Xperia tablet pegged for launch

Sony-SGP621-640x331 It appears that Sony Mobile is looking to add a new Xperia tablet to the family, following a post on an Indonesian site showing a new tablet with a model number of SGP621. The model number suggests that the tablet will sport LTE and continue the line of Xperia Z tablets with the LTE Z2 and the Tablet Z sporting model numbers of SGP521 and SGP321 respectively.

Other rumors have Sony readying a smaller tablet and this could possibly be that said tablet. Given the timing of the post, there’s a chance that we’ll see the device debut at IFA this year. The conference starts on Wednesday, Sept. 3.

Spin-off of the Huawei Ascend P7 could sport a Sapphire display

Huawei_Ascend_P7_Official_01 As Huawei continues its push into the international market, the company has said it will continue to push boundaries with “shocking products.” To bolster this claim Huawei Device Chairman and Consumer BG CEO Yu Chengdong, pulled out a variant of the Ascend P7 sporting a Sapphire Display. For those who don’t know, sapphire displays have made waves in the media for their strength and ability to take a beating.

The company is also looking to expand its E-commerce business in hopes of opening new channels for that avenue. That aside, the company will increase brand awareness but rather than focus on a quick profit and short-term success, the company is looking to be successful in the long term. Huawei hopes to do this by creating premium device.

It looks like the company has an idea of what it wants to achieve here in the future. Of course how well their plans go depends on these premium and “shocking” devices and how well they’re received. As it goes, only time will tell.

Google adds call-back button to Android Device Manager lock screen

android device manager call back lock screen

Google just added a very useful feature to its find my phone service, Android Device Manager.

When you lock your phone from either the Android Device Manager web app or the Android app (latest version), you can now add a phone number so whoever has your precious device can easily contact you right from the phone.

Previously, you could only add a custom message, like “Call 555-332-9990!” and hope that the person holding your phone will contact you from a different device. You still get the custom message, but the green button should make the process easier, provided of course that the person who sees it actually wants to help.

To use the feature, go to the ADM web app or the Android app and select the Lock option – set a new password, enter the number of a phone you have access to, and click Lock. The action will replace your current security measure (pattern, PIN, etc.) with a password lock screen, and it works even if you disabled the lock screen.

On tablets and other non-phone devices, the Lock option remains unchanged.
