Facebook Testing Reactions, a Way to Express Your True Feelings

While it seems everyone may have wanted a “dislike button,” Facebook is instead launching Reactions, a way to better express your true feelings toward something you see on News Feed. The feature is now entering testing in Spain and Ireland, which will allow users to share their thoughts towards anything posted by a friend, publisher, advertiser, or business.

Facebook’s thought process behind the introduction of Reactions is that by allowing users to share more feelings than just a “like,” those who post things will be able to determine if their fans or friends like that type of content.

Our goal is to show you the stories that matter most to you in News Feed. Initially, just as we do when someone likes a post, if someone uses a Reaction, we will infer they want to see more of that type of post. We will spend time learning from this initial rollout and iterate based on findings in the future.

Facebook has not given a timeframe for when we in the US can expect this change, but they did state that they want to get the implementation right from the start.

Ready to share your true feelings with friends and family?
