Top 10 Android News Stories This Past Week: Feb 1st – 2015 Edition

oxygen

Some big things happened this week in the world of Android and tech, but we realize that some people may have missed part of it. That’s why starting with today and following through with every Sunday, we’re going to recap on the top 10 biggest stories of the week for anyone that either missed the news or simply wants to do a recap themselves. To kick things off, we’ll start with the news about Google’s Project Tango making the jump from ATAP(Advanced Technology and Projects Group)to their own division. This means that Google is finally ready to start moving to the next level with their Project Tango devices. There were no details about what this entails, but we can imagine Google has big plans for it. Somewhat more unfortunate is that HTC had officially reported they’ll be missing their 90 day window for the Lollipop update on One M7 and One M8 devices. Hopefully it won’t be too much longer for device owners to get their software upgrade, but we’d rather HTC take their time and get things to run as smooth as possible before they push the update out to users.

Although HTC may not be making their date on the Lollipop software roll out, a recent rumor this week suggests that HTC’s next flagship, the M9 as it’s being referred to currently, may come with an improved speaker design that does away with the black bar on the bottom bezel seen on the HTC One M7 and One M8, which was a common complaint from device enthusiasts and users. Other big news this week centers around the Nexus Player coming to Amazon, as well as the Nexus 7 LTE models from both 2012 and 2013 finally getting the factory images for Lollipop 5.0.2, it’s been a long time coming. Perhaps the biggest news this week though, is that OnePlus unveiled two new operating systems for their devices, with Hydrogen OS meant to be for non-international phones and the Oxygen OS, meant to be distributed for international models. You can find links to all the biggest stories we covered this week below so in case you wanted to read a little more details on any of them we have them listed.
