If you have bought a Chromebook at any point in the last twelve months then you will be one of those who have joined the ranks of a very quickly emerging market. Chromebooks are on the rise and so they should be as they offer users the ability to have a great system at a fraction of the price. Of course, having a Chromebook is not without its limitations. The biggest (and one which gets discussed the most) is the general lack of offline ability. Yes, there are more Chromebook functions becoming compatible with offline use but they are still limited compared to more traditional hardware.
Another main issue (which in truth, is an extension of the first) is the number of apps available for Chromebooks. As these books run on Chrome OS they have their own Chrome store where you can download the apps from. However, in comparison to the Play Store, the number of apps available are significantly limited. That said, it looks like Google has uploaded another six apps today that you can now download and install on your Chrome OS running system.
The picks of the newly added apps seem to be SlideShare, Tapatalk and Yo. For those new to any of these, then Slideshare is an app which makes it much easier to share presentations with other people. Think Google Slides…think sharing…think SlideShare. Tapatalk is very much a social based app and allows users to effectively find like-minded people, forums and so on. Users can then bookmark and generally be updated on what is going on with their favorite hobbies, passions and interests. Lastly, Yo. By now, you are probably very aware of this one, as this app attracted a lot of attention last year in spite of its minimal function. In fact, it was the minimal function that caused the headlines. In Short, with Yo, you can hit a button and send a Yo to someone. Not quite sure why you would need this on a Chromebook, but nevertheless, you know can have it.
Lastly, it is worth pointing out that Google also asks its Chrome OS users to let them know which app they would like to see ported over. So if there is an app you really would like to see on Chrome then click here and let Google know.
