Motorola Recognizes Nexus 6 Back Cover Issue Affecting Some Users

Every smartphone has their problems for a percentage of users. In the case of the Nexus 6 made by Motorola, some users over the past couple of days have been reporting that their devices back covers were coming unglued from the frame and revealing the inside of the device where the battery sits. Naturally this would probably cause some concern for any user affected as those who had the problem were reporting being unaware of what caused the problem in the first place. What you don’t see too often is the manufacturer work to assist consumers in correcting the issue as best they can, which in Motorola’s case appears to be helping customers get the phone replaced.

According to the Times of India, users were reporting about this issue that started popping up more frequently on Friday and Motorola has acknowledged the problem, and has been going so far as to even replace the device for some users. We’re not sure if Motorola will end up replacing every single device that ends up having this problem, but from the looks of it they’re more than willing to help customers if they reach out to Motorola. A twitter user by the name of Chris cannon sent a tweet out to Motorola Support as early as January 11th, and they promptly messaged him back stating he wasn’t the only person having the issue and asked if he would need help replacing his second device having the back cover problem.

It’s an unfortunate thing to be sure if you end up with a defective device having this glue problem, but it’s pretty cool of Motorola to be as helpful as they have been and not sweep this problem under the rug. Acknowledging the problem and admitting to users that they’re aware of others having the same problem is dealing with it head on, something that other OEM’s could take some notes on. If you have a Nexus 6 with this issue, knowing that Motorola is aware of it might be able to help you feel confident about getting assistance with fixing it, and since Motorola knows about the issue and has addressed it we’d imagine they’re doing what they an to ensure it doesn’t persist going forward.
