If you’re an Xperia Z2 owner that’s been impatiently waiting for the rumored Z2 wireless charging kit, you’ll be happy to know that Sony has now made it official. Sony’s wireless charging solution is based on the QI charging standard and consists of two different components: the WCR12 Wireless Charging Cover and the WCH10 Wireless Charging Plate.
Sony’s new cover not only works with wireless charging, it also covers both the front and back of the Xperia Z2 and can even work as a kickstand. The case weighs in at 66 grams and packs the dimensions of 149 x 78 x 14mm. The stand is available in black or white.
While the Xperia Z2 charging cover should work with any QI-certified charger, if you want to keep to official accessories, the WCH10 charging plate gives you a stylish circular solution with a black top and metal sides. The plate is capable of producing 5W of power and 1A output. If you have other QI-compatible devices they should also work nicely with the WCH10 charging plate.
So how much do these official accessories set you back? That’s a good question, but one Sony has yet to answer. Sony has yet to set pricing or release date in stone, though the accessories should roll out sometime this summer.
What do you think of the Xperia Z2 WCR12 cover and WCH10 charging plate? How much would you be willing to pay for each?
