If you’re a Kindle Fire lover or an Android user who is aching to consume high quantities of Amazon-fed content, our friends in the Northwest are offering a fire sale (get it?!) on the 3rd generation Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch model, including the WiFi-only, 4G LTE, and 16 GB / 64 GB variants. Plus, you also have your choice of whether or not to include Amazon’s “Special Offers,” which means you get a discount for allowing Amazon to display ads on your lock screen.
Prices range from $139-$159, depending on storage capacity and the aforementioned Special Offers preference.
Other specs include a 1920 x 1200 resolution display (323 ppi), a 2.2GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, dual stereo speakers, and a free month of Amazon Prime, which includes streaming video and audio.
The Kindle Fire HDX has now dropped the “Kindle” portion of its title, and the current line has no 7-inch models, only the 8.9-inch variant. So if you love the size and form factor of 7-inch tablets – and with no third-generation Nexus 7 in sight – this might be a worthy use of your money.
And aside from that, if you don’t love Fire OS, it’s a good deal on a decently-spec’ed tablet that you can then unlock, root, and flash with any number of Android ROMs. But we aren’t suggesting that nor are we taking responsibility for anything if you do.
