Before a device is announced and made official, it goes through all kinds of testing and such. Which is why we typically see devices pop up into import databases in various countries. They go there for R&D and several other things. And it looks like the new Moto G has just popped up on an Indian import database. And there’s a big chunk of Moto G’s over there. These are models XT-1068, and are in both black and white, although all of them are 16GB models. So we may only see a 16GB model this year from Motorola.
The import database, named Zauba, has it listed for about Rs. 10,600 which translates to about $175. Which is currently cheaper than the original Moto G. Currently the original Moto G is selling in India for just Rs. 10,900.
As far as specs go, nothing is concrete yet, but we are looking at a 5-inch 720p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor inside, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a 8MP camera. Which is a bit of an upgrade over last year’s Moto G. As we’ve got a larger display and a slightly better camera. Although with Motorola cameras, there’s a lot more that needs to be done than just upgrading the megapixel count.
Either way, we’ll find out plenty more later this week when Motorola takes the wraps off of the Moto G2 in Chicago, along with the Moto X+1, and the Moto 360. We will be there in Chicago as well to get all the details as well as some hands on of everything Motorola has to show us on Thursday. So you’ll want to make sure you stick to Android Headlines. Last year the Moto G caught us all by surprise. With the specs it sported and the price tag it also sported, it really crushed the competition. And we’re all hoping Motorola does that again this year.
