Belkin releases a Smart Crockpot, yes really

belkin-crockpot

How many times have you been preparing a roast, chili or some other dish in a crockpot and wished, “oh boy, I wish this bad boy could access the Internet!” My guess is that not many folks reading this are raising their hands, but I could be wrong. Sarcasm aside, that’s exactly what the new Belkin WeMo Crockpot brings to the table.

At first glance, Belkin and Crockpot’s solution appears to just be an ordinary six-quart slow cooker, but thanks to WeMo technology you can turn this slow cooker on or off from anywhere in the world, receive reminders, change temperatures and more. This new smart appliance works with Belkin’s WeMo app and any existing Wi-Fi router. For those situations when you don’t need to access it through your smartphone, the crockpot can also be controlled manually.

Well the Belkin WeMo Crockpot isn’t for everyone, we imagine such a device could actually come in handy for those busy families where both parents work outside the home. For that matter, it could come in handy for a single person that wants a way to start warming up their dinner before they even get home from work.

So how much does the CrockPot Smart Slow Cooker cost? It’ll set you back $129.99, and can be purchased right now through Belkin or Crock-Pot. What do you think, do you think having smart technology integrated into otherwise ordinary appliances like this is a good move, or a pointless one?
