Those are the key numbers. But T-Mobile has had another very successful quarter. With adding another 1.5 million customers this past quarter, the carrier has surpassed 50 million customers. Which I don’t ever remember T-Mobile having that many customers, and they are closing the gap with Sprint now. Sprint has a little over 53 million as of their Q1 Fiscal 2014 results from earlier this week. They also lost around 245,000 customers in the past quarter.

As far as new customers go, we’re looking at 1.5 million new customers. But breaking that down, it’s 579,000 Postpaid, and 102,000 prepaid, with over 329,000 being mobile broadband customers (that includes things like tablets and hotspots). Bringing their total to 50.5 million customers. Not to shabby for the number four carrier.

“We have completely reversed T-Mobile’s trajectory and started a revolution that is changing the rules in wireless,” said John Legere, President and CEO of T-Mobile. “Now — with more than 50 million customers, 1.5 million customers added this quarter and 5 quarters in a row of over 1 million net new customers — we are proud to be the fastest growing wireless company in America, with the fastest 4G LTE network and, just this morning, recognized for having the best Customer Service nationwide.”

As far as the money goes, T-Mobile brought in about $7.2 billion which is a 15.4% increase, and saw a profit of $391 million. And that’s after losing around $180 million last quarter when they added a record 2.4 million new customers. T-Mobile also sold 6.2 million phones in the quarter, 93% of those were smartphones. So it’s starting to look really good for T-Mobile and the Uncarrier. The new Uncarrier initiative that John Legere put into place seems to really be affecting how they do business. As about a year ago, they barely had 40 million subscribers, and now they’ve surpassed 50 million. With their fifth straight quarter of adding 1 million customers. And this is a company that was losing nearly a million customers a quarter before Legere took over.

T-Mobile is also touting their VoLTE network today, stating that 2.8 million devices on their network are capable of making VoLTE calls, and over 52 million calls have been made over VoLTE to date. They also mentioned today, that the 700MHz spectrum they bought about 3 months ago is already being converted and they are field testing smartphones with the 700MHz band inside. So we’re likely to see many of their upcoming devices sporting the 700MHz band.
