Snake Rewind Hits Google Play, From the Original Creator of Nokia’s Snake

From Taneli Armanto, the original creator of Snake, partnered with Rumilus Design, Snake Rewind has hit Google Play.

In Snake Rewind, you will be transported back in time to the days of yore when everyone rocked a Nokia phone, and the best mobile game they had was Snake. In the original Snake, you would slither around, eat apples, and try not to run into your growing body. If you hit a wall or yourself, you have to start over.

Snake Rewind takes this same concept, but brings highly enhanced graphics and new twists, such as new obstacles and power ups for you to utilize. Based over 10 levels, it’s the same Snake action, but with added excitement.

The game is free to download from Google Play, but does feature IAPs. If you happened to enjoy Snake way back in the day, on your brick phone, pounce on it.

Sunrise Intros Meet, a Calendar Keyboard for Android and iOS

If you happen to use Sunrise Calendar on your Android or iOS device, meeting up with friends may have just gotten a bit easier, thanks to the introduction of Meet. Meet is a keyboard for Android and iOS, but instead of displaying letters to type with, it displays your calendar events, helping you quickly view and share your available time slots.

For example, if a buddy emails or texts you with intentions of meeting up, you can select the Meet keyboard from your available 3rd party keyboard list, select a time when you are available, then share that time with your friend. If your friend also uses Sunrise, they can quickly agree and RSVP to the time, adding it to their own calendar. If they don’t use Sunrise, they can still view the calendar event.

Meet is now available for users of Sunrise, and if you are not already using it, go try it out. The DL staff has been rocking Sunrise for quite some time now, and we love it.

Watch the video below for a good overview of how Meet works.

LG is Giving Out Lots of Free Goodies if You Buy a G4

According to one of our sources, LG should be lining up a few free gifts for purchasers of the new G4 smartphone. Likely redeemable by any G4 buyer, regardless of carrier, LG should be gifting a free replacement battery, extra wall charger, and 32GB microSD card when you signup through a dedicated promo website.

The promo should run from May 22 to June 21, as stated by our source, allowing most early buyers to grab the free goodies from LG. At this time, we are only aware of this promo for US buyers, and are not sure about International customers.

Will free gifts sway you to choose the G4 from LG?

Samsung Gear Live No Longer Available to Purchase in Google Store

Samsung’s first Android Wear device, the Gear Live, is no longer available for purchase on Google Store.

If you really need one, you can still grab it on Amazon for $199. Considering you can pick up a Moto 360 with Leather strap for even cheaper on Amazon ($169), that might be the better option.

Bye bye, Gear Live!

Play Music for Desktop Updated With Material Design Makeover, Rolling Out Today

Google is rolling out a big UI update to Play Music for desktop users today, bringing a ton of Material Design tweaks inside. Once your UI gets updated, you will see a very well laid out interface, complete with animated transitions and slide out navigation bar on the lefthand side.

Sporting larger artist and album photos, the overall feel is bright and easy to navigate. Most functionality remains the same, including searching for artists and checking out radio stations. Although, from what I am seeing, you can now rearrange your song queue, just like you can on the Android app version.

My browser-based version of Play Music already received the update, so it should be seeding to everyone over the course of today.

If you have a subscription to Play Music, check it out here. If you don’t have a subscription, now may be the time to grab one. If not, you can see the screenshots below.

Meerkat Sheds Beta Label on Google Play

Meerkat, the app that lets you stream live video directly to your Twitter followers for Android, is now out of beta on Google Play. With this move, it seems Meerkat’s developers are happy enough with their work, squashing as many bugs as possible and releasing it to the masses.

After playing with it for a few minutes, the app seems quite stable and fluid, with no bugs for me yet. Maybe I will Meerkat something a little later. Of course, the app’s rating is still hurting, but hopefully after a few weeks, it will tick up once people re-review it.

If you want to give it a try, download the app from Google Play, log into your Twitter account, and start streaming.
