Android 5.0 Lollipop now rolling out to the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3, Sprint Galaxy Note 4

Google Is Beginning A Global Roll Out Of The AdWords App For Android

AdWords

Back on February 18th Google had announced that they were launching AdWords for Android. All existing AdWords customers at the time were likely overjoyed, until they found out that it was a Canada only roll out for the time being. Fast forward a couple of weeks and Google is now making the AdWords app for Android available to all existing AdWords customers on a global scale. This means no more region exclusivity and users from the U.S., the UK, and other regions should be able to download the app from the Play Store. We can confirm the app is available in the U.S. and the UK at the moment, but of course we have no way of checking other regions. With that being said, Google technically launched the app yesterday and you should be able to find it in the Play Store as of now.

As before, the AdWords app for Android devices is simply going to be a companion experience, so you can’t set up new AdWords accounts from within the app, that still has to be done from the desktop. However you can quickly set up an AdWords account from the desktop and then jump right into the Android app with ease, so there’s no issue there. Since this will be more of a companion experience to the desktop version, not all functionality will be available, but most of the features are there to use.

The app is available to any users running Android 4.0 and up, and once users have it installed they can use it to interact with a handful of features like viewing their ad campaigns on the go, updating bids and budgets, and receiving real time alerts and notifications. Google seems keen on making things as easy as possible for customers too as they have built in a feature to call a Google expert for assistance should you need it. They also want to help AdWords users improve their campaigns in any way possible, so over time the app may suggest things to do and acting on those suggestions is aimed at helping people’s AdWords campaigns become better.Google-Play-Banner-Get-it-On-Large1

Rumor: Android 5.1 Lollipop Could Be Arriving Soon

Lollipop-AH-1

The Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update race is still in full swing with manufacturers and carriers looking to get their updates out to their devices as soon as possible. It was only this morning that the latest update was announced to be rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on Sprint. However, while the carriers and manufacturers battle to roll out their major update from Android 4.4 KitKat) to Lollipop, android is very much preoccupied with its next major(ish) update. This is of course, the update which will bring devices up to Android 5.1 (Lollipop).

This particular update has been widely speculated upon recently. The update has already been spotted on Indonesian Android One devices and was already seen on a Nexus 5’s benchmarks results. Not to mention, even more recently a Moto G (second generation) was also spotted running the update. Well, the latest in the rumor mill comes from Andorid Police’s founder Artem Russakovskii. The information came via his Google+ account (source link below) and suggests Android 5.1 is nearing. In particular the information which Russakovskii states comes from one of their ‘solid sources’ suggests the Nexus range of devices could see the update landing within the next week. In particular, the information suggests the Google Nexus 7 (2013) might be the first to see the update land.

The idea of the 5.1 update landing in the next few days/week does tie in nicely with a tweet which was sent out by HTC’s Mo Versi mid-way through February. In the tweet, Versi did suggest that the next MR (maintenance release) was scheduled to roll out in March. As such, the update had already been hinted as a this month release. In terms of what to expect from the update, well, the main aspect will most probably be slighter bigger bug fixes and performance resolutions than is usually encountered. Many users already on Lollipop have reported a number of issues they have encountered with the new operating system and it is likely a lot of these will be addressed. In the meantime, if you own a Nexus device then you might want to keep a look out for an update landing soon. Especially, if you are on a Nexus 7 it would seem.

Google starts showing auto insurance comparisons in search results

Google_Auto_Insurance

At its core Google has always been about putting people in touch with information. It started with searching the web, and has since ballooned to many other things. The latest is a handy tool for comparing auto insurance. If you live in California you should start seeing comparison tools when searching for auto insurance. They’ve also made the tools accessible on a new website.

All you have to do is enter your zip code, car details, and some other information to get results. You’ll see a list of quotes from a variety of insurance companies. From there you can head to the provider’s website and finish your purchase. Right now the service is only available in California, but it will be rolling out to other states soon. With all the different commercials and ads from auto insurance companies it’s nice to have a place to compare them all.

Deal: The first Transformers movie is free to watch on Google Play right now

transformers banner

If you need something to watch this weekend and have yet to see the Transformers series launched in recent years, Google is giving you a good reason to start. The company is offering Transformers for free in their latest promo. To be specific this is the 2007 film that kicked off the live action rendition of one of history’s greatest and most popular intellectual properties.

In case you don’t know what Transformers is about, two alien races of robots — the autobots (good guys) and decepticons (bad guys) — are fighting each other for ultimate dominance. The fight is brought to earth, and the autobots soon find out that they’ll need to call on the courage of the human race to help fend off their foes.

If not for nostalgia, then you owe it to yourself to watch it for the cool factor alone. Oh, and this is a Michael Bay affair, so get ready for explosions. Lots and lots of explosions. Grab it from Google Play right here.
