Feel Like A Grand Master With Chess For Glass

Glass isn’t exactly known or praised for its gaming scene, and there’s no reason that it should be because quite honestly that isn’t the main functionality of glass, furthermore there might only be a handful of games that could even be considered fun to play using Google’s wearable. Ingress is one of them, but unfortunately there isn’t any Ingress for Glass in the works that I know of. How about chess though, you’d play chess on your pair of Google Glass now wouldn’t you? I know that I would, if I owned a pair of Glass and if I was actually any good at chess. Sadly the closest I get to Glass is when I hang out with a close personal friend who has a pair and, I’m no good at chess. That doesn’t have to stop you though, potential grand master.

Playing games on your face may not sound all that appealing, and actually it kind of sounds like it might hurt a little, trust us though the only thing that could get hurt while playing a game of chess through Google Glass is your pride should you lose. That’s OK though too, because it’s about the journey isn’t it, not about winning. As you would expect this riveting game of mind power can be played using your voice or the touchpad on the side to make your moves, then you just have to sit back and wait for the computer to mop the floor with you, just kidding, you’ll probably win. Seriously though, unless you’re good at chess prepare to wallow in your own self pity from the pain of defeat.

When it comes to other options if you really are that good and the game feels too easy perhaps, you have the ability to import any chess engine that you wish, and you also have the ability to swap out board colors if you feel the need. Personally, I’m still waiting for Glass to have the capability to play an AR shooter of sorts, which would use the phonescreen as your trigger button to fire and the display on Glass would be used to view things in your cross-hairs. Someone needs to make that happen. Until then, your King shall be mine! Checkmate!

Verizon Wireless Expecting The New Moto X By September 25th

The New Moto X was slated for a late summer release, and there are rumors that late summer may be referring to right near the end of September. According to Droid Life, Verizon Wireless is expecting to receive their version of the new Moto X device by September 25th, which is technically past the official end days of summer but it could be close enough for Motorola to stick to that statement. We’re not sure if that date is set for when Verizon expects to launch the units for sale or if that would be the dates they expect to get the shipments in, we also have to keep in mind that the source said that Verizon expects to receive them by that date, and not necessarily on it, which could mean they’ll come before that.

News of Verizon’s prediction of when they’ll get the New Moto X in isn’t the first time we’d heard of the follow up to last year’s device from Motorola, as there have been rumors of a late September release prior to today. So far there hasn’t been any word from any of the carriers officially, and thus far we haven’t heard any rumors about when other carriers might expect to get their models of the new Moto X in yet, although we can hope to see it before late September even if that’s only by a week.

With Verizon expecting to see the Moto X by September 25th, it would be safe to assume that we could see all major carriers get the phone by that date, as well as an unlocked version from Motorola themselves. So far there is no official word on what the device might cost, but we suspect those details might start trickling through once we get closer to an actual launch. The new Moto X is rumored to be slightly bigger than the last model, and it’s expected that we might see the Moto 360 launch around the same time so September could be a pretty exciting month for those looking to get a smartwatch and a new phone. Moto X+1 tipped for a September 25th launch on Verizon Wireless

It really doesn’t seem too far a stretch to expect Motorola will launch a followup to their current flagship — the Motorola Moto X — a year after it’s been available on the market. That’s generally how the timing of these big sequels work.

Launching last year on August 23rd, we’re fast approaching that original launch date without a single word from Motorola on their upcoming flagship, the Motorola Moto X+1. Despite being the subject of multiple leaks around the net, the Moto X+1′s launch date has proven much more difficult to peg down. But today, we may finally have a better idea of when to expect it in stores.

The folks at Droid-Life seem to have it on good authority that the phone will launch on Verizon Wireless come September 25th. Keep in mind that while this may prove to be true, last year we saw AT&T nab exclusive rights to launch the phone before anyone else, so it’s entirely possible this could one again be the case for the X+1.

As the leaks continue rolling and this new rumored launch date approaches, expect more to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Google brings back device deauthorization limit for Play Music

Two years ago, Google instated a limit on how many devices you could remove from access to your Google Play Music account. The maximum amount of devices allowed on each account was and is ten, but at that time, you could only remove and replace four devices a year. This limitation rightly caused an outrage, and Google removed that restriction.

Unfortunately, as of this week, Google has started reinforcing that limit once more. While this may not seem to be a problem to the average Android user, any time a factory reset is done, or a new ROM is loaded onto a device, the device is duplicated on your Google Play max limit. So, for all of the tinkerers out there (and let’s face it, almost all of the tinkerers in the world use Android), this is very bad news. However, according to a Google rep, your entire collection of authorized devices can be reset if you call in and make a special request. While this will be a huge bother, it’s better than nothing.

‘Freaking Math’ is a game that’s so easy it will drive you insane

Some games are hard. Some games are easy. Freaking Math is a rare game that somehow can be easy and hard at the same time. The premise is so game is so simple it can be described in one sentence. You have 2 seconds to choose if a math equation is right or wrong. That’s it. The equation is always simple addition, and the goal is to get as many correct in a row as you can.

The key ingredient t0 what makes this game so addictive and fun is the 2 seconds you get to answer. It’s barely enough time to read the equation, let alone decide if it’s right or wrong. Your brain and fingers can barely keep up with each other. I can guarantee you will get some very easy equations wrong. Once you hear the buzzer that signifies an incorrect answer you will let out a scream and pound the button you should have pressed. Don’t feel embarrassed. I once thought 1+1=3 was correct. It will happen to you, too.

The design of the game matches the simplicity of the gameplay. It’s all very cartoony and easy to read. The buttons are large so you can’t miss them. A satisfying “bloop” sound can be heard every time you choose correctly. Freaking Math is a great game to hand off to your friends and see who can get the highest score. The game is free to download, but there are banner ads and the occasional pop-up. It’s a lot of fun, and you might even get better at math in the process.

A couple of days ago, Google fulfilled its obligation to prevent me from sleeping by releasing a stack of newly updated apps for me to examine. Some of them were pretty straight forward, like the latest version of Android Device Manager, and others turned out to be pretty mind-boggling. That's how the YouTube update turned out. The apk grew by 2 MB, and Google certainly packed in quite a bit, but many of the additions don't make much sense.

Watch this guy tricking people into thinking Android-powered iPhone 6 knockoff is the real deal [VIDEO]

Say what you will about Apple fans, one thing I think we can all agree on is that they’re very loyal to their brand. Case in point, the folks on the streets of Hollywood, California who somehow got duped by Jonathan Morrison of Techfast Lunch & Dinner into thinking a cheap iPhone 6 knock off — running a heavily skinned version of Android — was the real deal.

Despite the phone carrying the hardware specs of a household potato, the outside body actually looks pretty damn good. Especially considering it’s just a Chinese clone. Some would make the argument that this is exactly where the real appeal of Apple products lay, as people on the street turned a blind eye to the performance of the phone which was so obviously lacking. Adding to the laughs, the host mentions the iPhone 6 knockoff carries a 26-core processor, 8K display, and other outlandish specs to which passerby’s believe it all — hook, line, and sinker.

On a more serious note, it’s interesting to see just how little “normals” actually know/care about mobile hardware, despite our current mobile landscape where manufacturers are always attempting to one up the competition with more cores, RAM, or absurdly higher MP cameras.
