Facebook Brings 360-Degree Videos to News Feed

Facebook’s New Feed is about to become a whole lot more immersive, thanks to the introduction and support of 360-degree video. When you see a video uploaded in 360, users on desktop computers can drag the video around with a mouse, but the real magic is when the video is viewed on a mobile device. When viewing on your phone or tablet, you can tilt and twist the device, allowing you to see different views — just like VR.

Special equipment is needed to shoot videos in 360, so sadly, users won’t be uploading their own 360-degree videos anytime soon. Unless you have one of those awesome GoPro sphere cameras. Those are legit.

A few publishers are already bringing 360 videos to News Feed for your enjoyment, such as Star Wars, GoPro, Discovery, and even LeBron James. Head to your timeline now to check them out. If you don’t see the videos yet, be patient, as they are still rolling out.

For now, this will be exclusive to Android and desktop users, at least for a couple of months. Facebook states they are still working on this feature for iOS users.

Pebble Introduces Round Smartwatch Called Pebble Time Round, the New King of Bezel

This, is the Pebble Time Round. It’s the new round smartwatch from Pebble that starts at $249 and can be reserved today before shipping some time in November.

The new Pebble Time Round (PTR) is like previous Pebble watches in that it has a “beautiful,” always-on e-paper display. It does the whole notification thing, as well, as any smartwatch should. But what makes this new watch somewhat interesting, is the fact that it’s round, incredibly thin at 7.5mm, and still lasts for days on a single charge. The PTR comes in 20mm or 14mm options, which is really just you deciding which band thickness you want. As for colors, you are looking at black, silver, and rose gold (option is exclusive to 14mm).

If you bought a Pebble Time Steel and are completely pissed that it either just arrived or hasn’t shipped yet, and potentially want the Pebble Time Round, Pebble offers up the following solution. Reserve a PTR with the same email you used to back Pebble Time Steel. When your PTR ships, you will get an automatic $50 discount. Then, try both for up to 30 days and decide which you want. Send the one you don’t want back and Pebble will refund you for the PTR order. Make sense? If not, hit up the source link for more info.

As for my opinion on this new Pebble Time Round, well, I personally won’t be ordering one. There are a few reasons why. First, the screen they used in the Pebble Time and Time Steel is quite honestly, garbage. It’s incredibly tough to read in any light, which means it’s not only a pretty bad watch for telling the time, but it’s no good at showing you information either. My guess is that this display is on that same level. Second, navigating a watch with buttons feels like you are stuck in 1995. Smartwatches work great with touch screens because touch screens are modern and make sense and efficient. With this watch, you have 4 confusing buttons to try and master for navigating. And finally, holy shit, look at all that bezel. Pass.

Anyone else interested?

Here is the LG Nexus 5X in 3 Colors, the Huawei Nexus 6P in 4 More

Remember that mention of the Nexus leak floodgates opening up from yesterday? Well, here we go. Grab a life raft. With the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P unveiling event less than a week away, we are starting to see and learn every little detail about each (like Nexus 5X specs). It’s spoiling the surprise a bit, but of course, this is the world in 2015.

So what’s new today? We have fresh pictures of the Huawei Nexus 6P in a colorful line-up that shows the phone in white, black, grey, and gold. And below that, we have the LG Nexus 5X in white, black, and a greenish blue. They look like all of the other leaks, only these appear to be press renders or at least renders you would see on the Google Store.

Here is the Nexus 6P in four colors:

Reported Photo of HTC One A9 Hits the Web, Complete With Largest Bottom Bezel Ever

HTC’s upcoming mid-range device, the One A9, has been reportedly photographed, posted online by the good people at No Where Else. As seen below, the device does not appear to be up for any beauty contests, since it features one of the largest bottom bezels we have ever seen on a recent smartphone. This is thanks to the inclusion of a home button/fingerprint reader, as well as HTC’s branding. Woof.

The device is reported to feature a 5″ AMOLED display, Snapdragon 617 processor, 2GB of RAM, microSD card slot, 2,150 mAh battery, a 13MP rear-facing camera, and an UltraPixel camera along the frontside. It was earlier reported that the device will launch in six colors, but we highly doubt each color will be made available here in the States.

The One A9 is rumored to launch in November, but we still have no word on which carriers will carry it, or its price. However, you can assume its relatively cheap with its mid-range specifications.

That bezel tho.

Unlocking the Moto X Pure Edition Bootloader Voids the Warranty

Tinkers who own or planned to own the Moto X Pure Edition, be careful in taking the steps towards unlocking the phone’s bootloader. According to Motorola, doing so will void the phone’s warranty because the phone “is not a developer edition.”

We were looking for an official statement on this situation a week or so ago, but had not yet heard back. Thankfully, Motorola’s forums manager took care of it for us in a post this morning. Matt, Motorola’s forum manager, says that unlocking the bootloader will void the warranty of the Moto X Pure Edition, but that “unrelated physical material failure” will still be covered. Basically, as long as a “problem can’t be traced to software or abuse,” you can still get your phone fixed or whatever the need be. “These same principles apply to MotoCare” as well.

Here is a screenshot of his post:

So, if you decide to unlock the phone’s bootloader, understand the situation.

Deal: Nexus 6 is Back on eBay for $299

It’s back! The Nexus 6 32GB for $299 is back at eBay today. Who knows for how long, but last week’s similar deal sold out pretty quickly. If you want last year’s Nexus before it’s gone forever, now would be the time to jump on it.

As a reminder, this phone originally retailed for $650. Quite the discount in less than 12 months.

Here are the Nexus 5X Specs and Colors, According to Amazon

Amazon may have let a bit of early information out-the-bag in case you were interested. Oh, it has to do with the LG Nexus 5X – the yet-to-be-announced LG Nexus 5X. Interested? I figured you were. Thanks to three early listings that have since been pulled, Amazon has given us a good list of specs for the phone, all of which match up quite nicely to previous leaks and also to what our sources have told us.

I think it’s safe to say that we all assume that this new LG Nexus will be the more affordable of the two, hopefully bringing back that sweet spot of size, aesthetics, performance, and price that we loved so much about the original Nexus 5, while the Huawei Nexus 6P will be the big boy. Amazon didn’t give us a pricing, but as you will see below, this could very well be the next ultra-affordable Nexus phone.

The Nexus 5X specs, according to Amazon, are the following:

Display 5.2-inch IPS LCD (1920x1080, 423ppi)
OS Android v6 Marshmallow
Processor 1.8Ghz Snapdragon 808 processor (MSM8992)
Camera 12.3MP rear camera; 5MP front camera
Battery 2700mAh
RAM 2GB

SIM Nano
Dimensions 154 x 10 x 76mm, 177g
