iOS Code Spotted In Android Wear 4.4W Suggests Official Development Is Underway

When Google initially announced Android Wear, they stated that there was and at the time would not be any compatibility with iOS devices. That remained true for quite some time up until just last month when developer Mohammad AG ended up hacking his Moto 360 to work with his iPhone to receive iMessage notifications. Even more recently he displays the Moto 360 receiving notifications for FaceTime calls, further showing that it is indeed possible for Android Wear to work with iOS devices, all it needs is a little time and effort in the development process.

While Google has yet to actually confirm that iOS development is underway with Android Wear, Mohammad AG posted a tweet this morning stating that “Android Wear 4.4W contains iOS related code, class name AncsHandler.” This suggests that Google is working to make it possible officially for Android Wear devices to work with iPhones and iPads. When Google may actually announce the coming of this functionality is uncertain, but many of their most popular services already work with iOS devices so iOS compatibility for Android Wear just seems inevitable, and it would open up Google’s smartwatch platform to many more users.

Another uncertainty with iOS compatibility for Android Wear is what apps will be able to send notifications to the Android Wear smartwatch. The possibility for iMessage and FaceTime voice calls has already been displayed, but what about other low key applications like iCal? Will Gmail receive the same compatibility treatment with iOS devices that it gets with Android? How will the voice functionality work in contrast to Android devices, if it’s even present? For now there are lots of unknowns about how things will work, but speculation has already began stating that iOS users will have less of a robust experience on Android Wear as Android users due to the lack of third-party application support. It isn’t really known how Google might tackle this area of development, but it could be a possibility that they might work with developers to open up application support for Android Wear smartwatches, although it could still be some time before official support is made available for those people using iPhones and iPads.

T-Mobile Announces the “Un Contract” Meaning Prices will not Go Up, Data Will not Go Down

John Legere shocked us for a minute when he said these words “we’re bring back contracts”. Almost two years after Legere killed contracts for good at T-Mobile, or so we thought. However, Legere announced that he is signing a contract that promises his customers that their prices will not go up. Carriers are always raising prices, whether it be the rate plans or adding more taxes and fees to accounts. T-Mobile is looking to keep those prices at the same level it is now, but they may go down. Legere didn’t make any promises about prices not going down, which will likely happen. Legere also stated that data plans will remain the same, or they may get bigger. So for instance if you have a 2GB plan now, it won’t drop to 1GB, but it may go up to 3GB or even 5GB.

T-Mobile is also going to cover fees for those on Verizon Edge, AT&T Next and Sprint’s leasing plans, when they decide to switch over to T-Mobile. So not only do they cover your contract, but also the leasing options that the other three carriers offer. So if you’ve just bought a brand new Galaxy Note 4, on AT&T Next, you can bring it over to T-Mobile and they’ll pay it off for you.

That’s not all. It’s Apple’s famous “one more thing” but T-Mobile style. John Legere is committing to unlimited data for the next two years. While Legere said he can’t see into the future for 10 years, so he’s committing to the next 2 years. He did say he’d like to keep unlimited data around for as long as possible, which I’m sure he’s not the only one that wants to keep that.

In the Q&A session, Neville Ray, T-Mobile’s CTO, did state that they have over 300 million people covered with LTE. John Legere also stated that he will be aggressively looking to buy up low-band spectrum to go with their current 700MHz spectrum, and be aggressive in the spectrum auction next year for the 600MHz. So some great announcements here from T-Mobile today in Uncarrier 9.0. Wonder what they’ve saved for Uncarrier 10.0?

Modern Combat 5's release was hardly unexpected. After all, it's a sequel in one of the most popular franchises on Google Play. Nevertheless, it was a surprise to see the Gameloft title launch without a single in-app purchase in sight. In exchange, the publisher priced the title at $7. Reasonable.

T-Mobile’s Uncarrier 9.0 Brings Business Plans to $15/month

T-Mobile’s Uncarrier event in New York City today is ongoing right now. Their first announcement was business plans. John Legere showed us how the other carriers do business plans, and they aren’t really cheap. T-Mobile’s business plans are $16/month per line on up to 20 lines. Once you get to 20 lines, it drops down to $15/month per line. So that means if you have 20 lines, you’re paying $300 per month for all 20 lines. That price includes unlimited talk and text, along with 1GB of data (which is throttled afterwards).

But that’s not all. T-Mobile is also allowing you to buy data by the line. So you can get 2GB of data for one line, 1GB for another. T-Mobile is offering 2GB for $10 per month extra, and unlimited data is $30 per month extra. You can also get pooled data. But unlike other carriers when you go over that pool, you don’t get overcharged. For instance, with Verizon and AT&T when you go over your data limit, you’re charged $10 per gigabyte or more. T-Mobile is going to sell you 100GB of data for $4.75 per gigabyte. If you go over, it’s still $4.75 per gigabyte. If you hit 1 terabyte, it’s $4.25 per gigabyte.

Again, that’s not all. T-Mobile is also giving out a free .com domain and an email address for each line powered by Microsoft. This is powered by Godaddy. Legere stated that many businesses do not have a website, and many potential customers do not trust a business that does not have a website. So T-Mobile is helping out small business owners on that side of things.

When it comes to families of these employees, T-Mobile is offering up to 50% off for those plans. Which is a much bigger discount than what the other competitors provide. Typically they provide about 10-20% in discounts. With business plans, T-Mobile is offering up to 50% off their monthly bill.

No word on when these plans will be available just yet, but we should know more from T-Mobile pretty soon. Not a bad way to rewrite the rules of wireless from a small business perspective. And for those that have families on the same carrier.
