Verizon makes it official, announces Nexus 6 available March 12th
Consistent with earlier leaks of promotional materials, Verizon officially announced today the availability of the Nexus 6 starting on March 12th. If it is any consolation for those who have been waiting, Verizon will release the Nexus 6 with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, so users will benefit from the work Google has been doing to fine tune Lollipop since its release last fall.
As the leaks indicted, Verizon is pricing the Nexus at $249.99 with a 2-year contract. Buyers can also get it for $27.08 per month for 24 months on Verizon Edge. Consumers may not need much of any additional inducement to pick one up if they were already interested, but to help push people over the edge, Verizon is offering six months of access to Google Play Music All Access if the Nexus 6 is purchased before March 31st.
Verizon will start taking orders on-line on March 12th and the device should be available in stores starting on March 19th.

Featured: The Top 6 Best Media Streamers – Spring 2015
In the past couple of years, Google and Amazon have really gotten into our living rooms. So I think it’s time to take a look at the best media streamers to take that last HDMI port on your TV. The three big players are Google, Amazon and Roku, but which ones are the best for you? Let’s take a look at a few of these.
Roku 3
The Roku 3 is the only Roku I’ve actually had the pleasure of using. It’s a pretty great media streamer, you can add all kinds of channels to the Roku 3, including Sling TV, Amazon Instant Video, WWE Network and more. One of my favorite features of the Roku though is that you can plug in your headphones to the remote and get the audio through your headphones instead of the TV.
Amazon Fire TV
The Fire TV came out before the stick. And it’s been a pretty popular set-top box. Of course, having game features as well as Amazon Instant Video on tap definitely help out. There’s a ton of apps that are optimized for the Fire TV and there’s a bunch of services that are coming soon. Amazon is adding more and more every month.
Google Chromecast
The Chromecast arguably started the whole media streamers/dongle, hype in the past couple of years. The Chromecast is a $35 HDMI dongle that can do just about anything. It can play from a variety of apps and be controlled straight from your smartphone. It does support both Android and iOS as well.

Roku HDMI Streaming Stick
The Roku Streaming stick does just about everything that the Roku 3 does, but it’s just in a HDMI dongle instead of an actual set top box. You do still have the bulkier remote control, that does still have a 3.5mm headphone jack as well. But its only about $35-40, around the price of the Chromecast.

Amazon Fire TV Stick
The Amazon Fire TV Stick is a rather interesting device. It does just about everything that the Fire TV does, except games. Well that’s not entirely true, it does do games, but the game controller doesn’t work too well with it. The Fire TV Stick is a small dongle, similar to Roku’s Streaming stick and the Chromecast. And is only $39.
Google Nexus Player
The Google Nexus Player is the first Android TV device from Google. It’s built by ASUS, and looks very similar to the Fire TV, except that it’s a circle instead of a square. It supports a ton of Google Play apps, with more coming each and every day. There is also a game controller that can be bought alongside it.

Google Releases Street Art, Its First Android Wear Watch Face
For some reason, Google has only now released a watch face for Android Wear. It's called Street Art, and it features the work of more than a dozen artists from the Google Art Project. It's light on options, though.
The Street Art watch face has three display modes—analog, digital, and minimal. The digital face has the time down at the bottom so as not to obscure the art. Minimal uses small circles instead of hands to display the time in an analog fashion.

Listen, I'm against #brandbaiting as much as the next curmudgeonly person who writes words on the internet, but sometimes, companies do things so remarkably dumb that it's fun to watch other companies (generally equally devoid of any real moral compass) then proceed to tell them that they are, in fact, doing something really dumb. It's sort of like watching reality TV: no one actually likes any of the characters as human beings, but it's good fun to watch them drive one another insane.

Google Play’s new search box with integrated hamburger menu button is starting to roll out
Quick, open up your Google Play Store! Seeing the old version with a search button in the upper right? Close the app (force close it if you need to) and open it again. You’ll likely see that a new search box is neatly squared at the top of the app. This is opposed to the old small search button that existed in the upper right of the status bar and could be hard to miss for some.
This new update should make it easier for folks to find the search box and begin looking for all the apps and games they crave. Inside the search box is a hamburger menu button that will bring up the standard Google Play menu for switching between different categories, sections and menus.
