Spice Announced Stellar Mi-362 In India, A Low-End Smartphone Priced At RS 5,499 ($89)

Spice is a smartphone manufacturer located in India. Spice got some extra attention back in September when the company launched one of the three currently available Android One handsets, Spice Dream Uno Mi-498. Spice was Google’s Android One launch partner in India, together with Micromax and Karbonn. The company has also released their own Spice Mi-549 handset a couple of days ago. Both of said handsets belong in a mid-range category, sport 1GB of RAM and have rather affordable prices. It seems like Spice wanted something even more affordable to offer to their customers and have thus released something rather odd if you ask me.

The company announced a new device as part of their Stellar-series of smartphones, Spice Stellar 362 for the Indian market. This handset features a 3.5-inch HVGA (320 x 480) display along with 256MB of RAM and 2GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card up to 32GB). This handset is powered by a 1GHz processor and ships with a 1300mAh battery. On the back of this handset, you’ll find a 2-megapixel camera while there’s a 1.3-megapixel shooter located on the front side of the device. This is a 3G phone and it offers dual-SIM connectivity. The phone will be on sale soon according to Spice and it will be available in White and Black color options.

The company is targeting the consumers who want extremely affordable handsets. This device is an ultra low-end handset, if I can even put it that way, I’m actually somewhat disappointed, but if Spice sees demand for handsets like this, who are we to judge. “We have noticed a growing acceptance and demand amongst sub urban customers for good quality smartphones. At Spice, our vision has always been to offer the best-in-class smartphones to a larger audience, by providing great products at affordable prices. Stellar 362’s combines high utility functions and the latest software to deliver a great customer experience,” said Prashant Bindal, Chief Executive Officer of Spice Mobility Ltd. The device will launch in India in the coming days and will cost INR 5,499 ($89) according to the company. The price is low, but I don’t believe this is a good option either way, we’ll see how many of these handsets will Spice manage to sell in the end.

Analyst: Meizu To Launch Affordable Device With MediaTek MT6752 CPU By The End Of December

Meizu just announced Meizu MX4 Pro and by doing that put an end to rumors regarding that handset. We’ve seen tons of rumors and leaks in the past couple of weeks and I’m glad that’s over. Most rumors were spot on an guessed the device’s specifications, most of its features and its looks. Meizu MX4 Pro features a 5.5-inch 2K (2560 x 1536) display along with 3GB of RAM and 16, 32 or 64GB of internal storage. The device is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 5430 octa-core processor which comes along with Mali-T628 MP6 GPU for graphics processing. 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera by Sony and a 5-megapixel front-facing sensor by OmniVision are also a part of this package and the handset ships with a 3350mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat with Flyme OS on top of it. That being said, rumors (and analysts) were saying that Meizu will release a 799 Yuan smartphone quite recently and more and more rumors are pointing towards it. The newest report comes from the industry analyst Pan Jiutang, who says that Meizu will release this handset at the end of December. This handset should be Meizu’s competitor for the lower segment of the market and will reportedly cost between 1000 and 1300 Yuan ($163 and $212). According to the analyst, this handset will sport a MediaTek’s MT6752, a 64-bit octa-core processor and will be a dual-SIM device. There’s no word on the rest of its specifications though. This sounds really interesting actually, does this mean Meizu will release 2 more devices by the end of this year, or is only one of these rumors spot on and we’ll see only one device but the price guesses are off. I actually don’t know what to believe at this point, especially considering we didn’t get more details when it comes to specifications and we can’t compare the 2 reports properly. Either way, this handset should be a direct competitor to Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S handset.

T-Mobile Says The LTE-Equipped Nexus 9 Is Coming In Early December

As is the tradition with tablets, Google launched the Nexus 9 recently as a WiFi-only device. The LTE version would be along later, we were told, but no one knew when. Now with T-Mobile's Nexus 6 announcement, they're throwing in an update on the Nexus 9 with LTE—it'll be out in early December.

The LTE version of the tablet will have 32GB of storage along with the mobile data connection. It should be available in the Play Store around the same time T-Mobile starts selling it, but it should be the same device with support for multiple LTE networks.

PayPal app officially released for Pebble smartwatches

PayPal makes an effort to keep its service available on just about every device out there, and Pebble’s smartwatch is the latest in a long list of phones, tablets, and other connected things. The app lets Pebble users check-in and punch in payment codes to pay for things at several retailers that accept PayPal. You’ll also get notifications for payments without having to check your phone.

This app means PayPal is available on nearly any smartwatch you can buy, including Samsung’s Gear offerings, Android Wear watches, and now the Pebble.

Google releases Pie Noon, a simple game to show off the simplicity of making games for Android TV

Google has released a new game called Pie Noon, designed specifically to show off just how easy it is to create games for Android TV. The game is completely open-source and written in C++, and it supports all of the basics that Google wants to push with Android TV. It features multiplayer with up to 4 players, a single-player experience, dedicated touch controls, and Google Play Games leaderboards and services.

The game uses a variety of Google technologies and serves as a great demonstration on how to get your games up and going for Android TV. It’s freely available in the Play Store, and the entire project is available on GitHub.

Google is clearly taking Android TV much more seriously than previous Google TV efforts, and projects like this are stepping stones to getting the platform where it needs to be. The game isn’t flashy, but sometimes a simple demonstration for how things should be is the right approach. Hopefully we’ll see more developers follow Google’s lead here.

Motorola announces Motorola Keylink, a keychain for finding your phone

We knew Motorola was planning on releasing a keychain device soon, and they’ve made it official today. The Motorola Keylink is a keychain that’s designed to help you find your lost Motorola smartphone for when you just can’t seem to remember when you put it down at. The Keylink connects to your device with the Motorola Connect app, and the link actually works in reverse, too. If you can’t find your car keys, but you have your phone on you, you can just page the keylink and it’ll beep from up to 100 yards away.

The Keylink is a pretty simple idea, but it’s really convenient. It’s pretty rare that I don’t have either my keys or my phone on me, but I misplace things as often as anybody else. The Keylink has a standard button cell battery that lasts for up to a year, and it’ll run $24.99 on Motorola’s website or in a T-Mobile store. You can buy them starting today.
