HTC One M8 and M7 Google Play editions will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop this Friday, Nov 21st
It’s safe to say the road to Android 5.0 Lollipop has suffered from its share of road bumps along the way. Although Google never actually came out and said the update was delayed, last minute bugs and over-the-air updates could have been the reason for the hold up. Maybe that’s why we nobody was too upset that the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 Google Play editions still haven’t received their Lollipop upgrades.
For the few who purchased one of these 2 devices, you wont have to wait too much longer before you too can partake in Lollipop goodness (hopefully with less bugs), HTC’s Product Manager Mo Versi revealed on Twitter that the update is scheduled to roll out this Friday after suffering from some last minutes delays. Now that’s the kinda transparency we like.
Oddly enough, we think the people most concerned with the new update are those with rooted, carrier branded HTC One M8/M7s. As soon as the update is issued they’ll finally have a new mostly “stock” Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM to flash onto their devices vs the mostly buggy AOSP ROMs compiled from source. Anyone out there with with an official Google Play edition HTC One M8 or M7?

Amazon update lets you shop straight from your Android Wear smartwatch
After dumping their standalone App Store application in favor of the all-in-one standard Amazon app, a new update is making it easier than ever to (you guessed it) make purchases from their online storefront. Hitting the Play Store today is an update to the Amazon app which adds Android Wear support and the ability to search by items by voice and make purchases straight from your smartwatch. Whether or not that’s a good idea, is up to you.
To get it up and running, just speak the familiar “Ok Google” voice command followed by “Start Amazon.” Once the app has fired up on your smartwatch, you save search queries to your Wish List for later viewing or view search results on your phone. When viewing a listing you’ll need to have 1-Click settings enabled on your account to make a purchase, or again, you can save it to your Wish List and come back to it later.
All in all, it works pretty well if you’re simply researching prices/ratings of real world items with Amazon (also known as “showrooming”). Download the app right now via the Google Play link below and you’ll be on your way to making impulse buys in no time.

United Android App Adds Personal Device Entertainment, Allows You To Watch In-Flight TV / Movies On Your Tablet Or Phone
While it's been available on iOS for some time, United updated its Android app today in order to add support for a rather cool feature: on-device entertainment. Instead of having to deal with that atrocious LCD on the headrest, now you can watch your in-flight movies and TV on your own phone or tablet.
This is likely both a blessing and a curse. Who knows what the stream quality is like (anyone with an iPad who's used it want to chime in?),not to mention the reliability.

Code Commit Shows The Nexus 6 Had Tap-To-Wake Functionality, But Google Removed It
Tap-to-wake is one of the niftier features Google's implemented on the Nexus 9, but its telephony-enabled sibling didn't get the same treatment. We now know that it almost did, though, thanks to a commit to the device's source code made on September 10th.
Google hasn't commented on this other than to make clear that tap-to-wake is not a feature of the Nexus 6. They also haven't asterisked that with any kind of conditional language like "currently" or "at this time," so it seems probable that it isn't coming back, either.

Cyanogen Inc Announces Micromax Partnership In India, First Phone To Be Called "YU"
Cyanogen Inc apparently had a sit-down with The Verge recently, detailing in not-very-much-detail its new partnership with Indian smartphone OEM Micromax. CEO Kirt McMaster says the device will be called "YU," and it will come preloaded with some apps and services that are "popular" in India. That is quite literally everything that was announced.
The partnership had been previously rumored, with a phone potentially coming before the end of the year.
