Gmail Integrated Dropbox Chrome Extension Now Available As A Beta Download
Gmail has gotten somewhat lost in recent times and following the unveiling of the new mighty Inbox by Gmail. It seems a number of users have already migrated wholeheartedly over to the new email client and as such have abandoned poor old Gmail. In spite of this, it should be remembered that Inbox (in spite of its highly functional ability and attractiveness) is actually still not quite as powerful as Gmail. While, Inbox might look the part, it lacks a lot of features and compatibility that trusty old Gmail can do blindfolded. For instance, you still cannot route your work emails through Inbox which is a big shame for anyone who uses a work email.
Well, today, it also seems Gmail got another handy little feature added to its arsenal that again Inbox does not have and this one will certainly be of interest to you, if you are a current Dropbox user. It seems a new Dropbox Chrome extension for Gmail has gone live today which allows users a more seamless Dropbox experience. Once you have the extension installed on your Chrome system you can easily share Dropbox links directly from within Gmail. Once you open your Gmail and hit ‘Compose’, you will now notice a small Dropbox icon in the bottom left corner of the screen (right beside the ‘Send’ button). Once you click the icon you can then easily attach Dropbox links or files without having to open Dropbox separately. It is also worth noting that the Chrome Store listing also states that if you are receiving Dropbox files or links then you will be able to see a preview of the incoming files from within Gmail. So, all in all, a handy little extension for Gmail and Dropbox users.
It is also worth pointing out that this is currently labelled on the Chrome Store as a ‘Beta’ app. As such, it is probably worth being aware that it might be a little buggy or problematic at first. Although, after testing it seems to be working just fine. And for all you Inbox by Gmail users, Inbox was also checked and the service does not work. This is a Gmail only function. As yet, there doesn’t seem to be any official confirmation on the service by either Gmail or Dropbox and as this is listed as a Beta app, it might actually just be a quiet testing phase before the official one rolls out. Microsoft Is Giving Away 100GB Of Free OneDrive Storage For Being A Bing Rewards Member
Cloud storage is awesome in many respects, especially for its capability to give you access to your files from virtually anywhere you have an internet connection and can sign into an account associated with your cloud storage. While many people might be more familiar with cloud storage options like Dropbox, one of the tech world’s biggest players in software, Microsoft, has their own cloud storage system too called OneDrive, formerly known as SkyDrive. If you’re a user of OneDrive, or maybe even if you’re not, Microsoft is giving out some free storage space for OneDrive just for doing one simple task.
It’s as easy as signing up for Microsoft’s bing rewards program which gives you things like savings and discounts just for using bing search. It does this by allowing users to accumulate bing rewards credits which can then be redeemed for gift cards and tons of other products or services, and for signing up as a new user Microsoft is handing out 100GB of free cloud drive storage in OneDrive for two years. This isn’t unlike the free space Dropbox was giving out to users who had purchased specific Samsung Galaxy handsets, albeit those users had to spend quite a bit of money to get that storage freebie which also had a two year cap, and it was only half the amount at 50GB.
In contrast, this is a much better cloud storage deal when you compare it to the promos for free storage from Dropbox and Google Drive. Setting up a free bing rewards account may or may not be worth it to you to get some free cloud drive storage space, especially if you’re already a loyal user of another service. However if you use multiple cloud storage systems why not get some more? Yes you’ll probably receive some unwanted emails, you can simply delete those though. Existing members of bing rewards aren’t left out of this promotion either, and can also grab the 100GB of OneDrive space for virtually doing nothing since their accounts are already set up. Google I/O 2015 set for May 28-29 in San Francisco
It seems like every year Google alternates between May and June with Google I/O. Last year it was June so this year it must be May right? You got it. Google has scheduled their biggest event of this year for May 28 and 29 in San Francisco.
Registration begins March 17 at 9:00am PT and ends March 19 at 5:00pm PT. They will be doing the same system as last year in which you will need to fill out an application in order to be eligible to buy a ticket. Then Google will randomly select from all applicants, thus eliminating the crazy rush.
It isn’t too soon to speculate what we will see this year is it? Will we see an updated Google Glass? A new version of Android? Let us know your predictions.

Google I/O 2015 dates announced: May 28th – 29th, registration kicks off March 17th
It’s official: Google I/O 2015 dates have now been revealed. According to Google’s Sundar Pichai, the event will kick off this year on May 28th, to May 29th at the usual Moscone Center in San Francisco as previous years. The big news here? Registration opens up on March 17th at 9AM (PDT), so mark you calendars.
For those that can’t make the trek to San Francisco, you can watch the entire event online via I/O Live (live stream) or even attend one of Google’s I/O Extended events which are spread out in different areas around the world. It’s crazy to think Lollipop — or Android L, rather — was unveiled nearly a year ago at last year’s event. We can’t wait to see what this year brings.

Flipboard no longer just for mobile, is now available to all via web interface
We’ve been following Flipboard since it first arrived on Android as a Samsung Galaxy S3 exclusive nearly 3 years ago. A cross between Pinterest and more visual RSS reader, the last time we heard from Flipboard they introduced a new magazine feature allowing users to create their own curated lists of sources based around their interests.
Today, Flipboard is now officially available on the web, giving anyone with a computer the ability to browse and build their own personal magazines from the comfort of your desktop computer (or you know, while at work). Just like in the app, Flipboard took time in making sure the web portion was equally as beautiful with dynamic layout that adjusts to a variety of screen sizes.
Instead of “flipping,” web users now scroll. Flipboard says they’re able to analyze the type of content found in stores (like text and images) ensuring on the relevant stuff shows up. They also use their own algorithms to recommend “magazines” you might like — all custom tailored to the interests you set up. The best part? There’s no ads (for now).
Signing into Flipboard on the web and personalizing your magazine will in turn be reflected in their mobile apps. Pretty nice if you’re on your computer all day and need something to read when you’re out and about. Google I/O 2015 Set for May 28th and 29th in San Francisco
This afternoon, Sundar Pichai who is in charge of Android, Chrome and Apps at Google, has announced the dates for the 2015 Google I/O. It’s set for May 28th and 29th in San Francisco, at the Moscone West as it usually is. On May 28th we’ve got the nice long marathon Keynote from Sundar and other Googlers, then sessions the rest of the day on the 28th and 29th at Moscone West. Registration for Google I/O begins on March 17th, so just over a month away.

Whether you’re able to join us in person, online via I/O Live or at an I/O Extended event in your local community, we’re looking forwarding to connecting with the global +Google Developers community to share what we’re working on next.”
Definitely exciting to see what Sundar and his teams and other teams at Google are working on. I’ll be there in San Francisco this year for Google I/O and definitely can’t wait to see what Google has in store for us this time around. Maybe some more Android One stuff? Another developer preview for the new version of Android they’ll release in the fall? All kinds of goodies will likely be announced there, and shown off as well.
Last year we got Android L, Android Auto, Android Wear, Android TV and plenty of other goodies, so it’s bound to be full of a ton of surprises. When we are talking about surprises, look at Google Cardboard. No one really expected that, nor really knew what to do with it for a bit. But it’s basically VR made of Cardboard, which is pretty unique and cool at the same time.
